CNN showed a group of "common folk" Republicans in Sometown, USA who got together to watch the speech and then were questioned afterwards. They interviewed about six of them and at least four said they thought the blivet's speech was "nice words" but wondered if there would ever be any meaningful action. Hah! You see, that is what happens when you have a 5 1/2-year record of telling lies. Even your base doesn't believe you anymore.
Then there was one fellow who said Bush was a "good man with a bad plan" (still wants to believe in him, but...). And last but not least was the die-hard Kool-Aid drinker who thought the speech was just wonderful, that Bush was just wonderfal and he thought he was seeing Ronald Raegan at that desk. Bwahahaha!!! (Some never learn!)
The point here that I think is most poignant is the fact that these people do so wish they could believe in their Dear Leader, but the cracks are SO obvious... no one really believes him anymore. And as Martha would say... "That's a good thing!"
