Have any of you ever heard of a group named "Dove"?

I got a stupid phone call today from an organization named "Dove". The lady claimed they were for cleaning up the movie industry , TV shows, and cable.

She got all kind of pissed off when she asked if I was in favor of this and I said NO!

She promptly responded, we we're for keeping our children safe from corupting messages, and were obviously not for you.

I just wondered if this was a Georgia thing, or is this another nationwide nut group?

I got a call last year from them about the evils of video games. There was a discussion thread with others here who had also rec'd calls.

9. Thanks. I never heard of them before today. I guess I don't care

if all they do is review movies and video games and stick their little dove on the ones they like, but this call sounded a bit more sooercive than that! No nasty, but more "you're a bad person if you disagree with us" idea.

12. They are coercive. They ask leading questions to get you

to agree with them. Then they probably use the results to try to pressure the entertainment industry.

When they called here, I asked them to define every term they were using. What is a "dangerous" movie? What is "suggestive?" How bad does "bad language" have to be to qualify?

I exasperated the guy and he hung up on me.

7. I got a call from them a few weeks ago.

She creeped me out. I told them kids have parents to monitor

what they watched and the govt needs to buzz off.

She said she represented the Dove Foundation. She gave her name but I don't remember. I told her I never heard of it and that I didn't want to talk to her.

11. I went to their website and went through their movie reviews

I don't have a big problem with the reviews because the reviewer based them on whether or not they're suitable to take your children to.
He mentioned several movies that the reviewer found compelling and/or entertaining: Monster-in-Law, Rent, Munich, Batman Begins, etc. But, that the reviewer found them to be unsuitable for family viewing (ie children under-12). In many cases I agree with the reviewer. I would never take any of my daughters to see Rent because they're too young (11 and younger). I agree with the reviwer about Saw 1&2, they're interesting and quite graphic -- not family films.
The 'Content Description' part was the most interesting to me. The social attitudes of the reviewer are quite Puritanical. When I saw under 'sex' "Suggested homosexuality" I was not totally surprised. But, the reviewer also listed "A boy and girl kissing" under sex as well. The reviewer obviously finds homosexuality unacceptable -- read the review of "Rent."
As further 'proof' of the reviwers Puritanical streak (IMO) the reviwer listed "D--- you all!" as objectionable. Drinking and smoking under drugs. And under nudity 'A man with his shirt off'
