Dean's reaction to Bush's speech
He brings up this point which I think is important and hasn't been discussed much tonight.

"Once again the President tried to hide the truth about his guest worker program, which would force immigrants into indentured servitude and fail to protect U.S. workers and their wages. For what little substance the President did offer, he left out critical answers on practicality and cost, at a time when our national debt and budget deficits are at record highs and our national guard is stretched thin.

"What's worse, the President failed to denounce the House Republicans' plan to criminalize immigrants, families, doctors, and even clergy, leaving many to question whether or not he will stand up to the extremists in his party.

3. The cost issue may be the one that kills this.
The UK National ID card scheme, which will be introduced in the next few years in all its smartcarded, biometric glory, will cost an estimated $20 billion to launch and a few billion more each year to manage.

I wonder how voters will feel about flushing another few tens of billions down the BushCo crapper?

4. Is Dean referring to ILLEGAL immigrants?
I don't appreciate these kind of spins from the GOP and I really don't like it when our own party does it. Call them what they are, Howard.

6. But I thought he explicity rejected..
.. the "plan to criminalize immigrants, families, doctors, and even clergy,".

Am I missing something in the definition of 'denounce'?

7. Democrats should learn the art of simplifying the massage
This long statement misses the point and makes no sense to the large masses. Of course it is good statement, but its vague and has no punch-line. Just make it simple for average person to recite your words in their mind.
