Heads Up! QWEST Communications Connected to the Carlyle Group!
Edited on Sat May-13-06 09:21 PM by radio4progressives
Thinking about dumping AT&T, SBC, Verizon et al? Go for it, but don't turn to Qwest! It's owned by the Carlyle Group and every good Democratic activist should know who that is!

Tip of the Hat to Mike Malloy, by the way who mentioned this heretofore unreported story in the first hour of his program broadcast last night.. and more!

Mike Malloy program in reference is archived here:
http://www.whiterosesociety.org/Malloy.html (05/13/06)

On QWEST and Carlyle Group, go to this link:

http://linkthing.com/screed/carlyle_group_cluster.html

then scroll down about half in the page to find this:

An overlooked story makes more sense now: The Carlyle Group and Welsh Carson Close Qwest Dex East Deal Formerly thought to be benign, this transaction provides Carlyle with personal and business data profitable for re-selling to Poindexter's Total Information Awareness System "The Carlyle Group and Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe today closed the first part - Dex East - of their purchase of Qwest Communications' yellow page directories business."...

Happy Reading!

8. Thanks, didn't see the thread earlier..
I just posted a link to this thread at that link.

We need to put together a factoid sheet - to weave all these things together - but just the mere thought and scope of this is impossible for me to shake - EVERYTHING IS OWNED BY THESE BASTARDS!

10. Sorry, There is NOTHING to nail
I live in Denver. I remember when Carlyle Group SOLD QWEST dex!
quote.......
Dex yellow pages was sold by Qwest in 2002 for $7.05 billion to Carlyle Group and Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe. The private investors sold it last October in a $9.5 billion deal to R.H. Donnelley, based in Cary, N.C.

end quote........
There isn't conspiracy in everything. QWEST was in deep financial trouble in 2003. DEX was a major asset. R.H.Donnelley is the oldest and largest Yellow Page company. Sorry, to bust everyone's bubble

6. They're everywhere..
Anyone listening to Malloy's program?

There's even MORE!

Apparently, William P. Bar (sp?) is the General Counsel to Verizon, and before he was GC to Verizon he was in the CIA, under Reagan and Poppy Bush, and there's some sort of connection to William Bennett.

omfg.

7. You might want to edit your heading. Carlyle bought the Yellow Pages
Edited on Sat May-13-06 09:18 PM by ConsAreLiars
from Qwest. They do not own Qwest. Qwest is owned by the usual miscellany of predators and thieves that own other corporations. The issue here is WHY Carlyle decided to get into the database business, but your claim that they bought Qwest is simply false.

(edit typo)

9. What really freaked me out a while back...
Edited on Sat May-13-06 09:21 PM by fiziwig
About two years ago I was watching a documentary on the Carlyle group and when the camera panned across the audience at a Carlyle dinner meeting there was my boss's boss sitting at one of the tables. I knew our company did contract work for the Air Force and NASA, but I had no idea we were connected with the Carlyle group!

And in case you're wondering, NO, I don't work there any more. Just as I was getting up the gumption to quit, my computer programming job got outsourced overseas anyway.

The upshot is, I worked for the Carlyle group for four or five years and never even realized it!
