Bush Speech vs. Rove Indictment... which would get more coverage?
If Will Pitt is right, Fitzmas is coming sometime this week: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=364&topic_id=1179819&mesg_id=1179819

So, a theoretical question:

If you're the White House, is it GOOD or BAD if a Rove indictment is announced Tuesday morning? With Bush's immigration speech coming Monday night, which story runs interference for the other?

Does Bush's address push a Rove indictment beneath-the-fold, or does the Rove story blow the Bush speech completely off the radar?

1. FOX don't even cover Bush's stupid speeches anymore!
They know everyone but the total idiots change the channel the second they see that sickening smirk!

2. I think the media will go for the Rove indictment
I know I know...I don't have high expectations when it comes to the MSM either, but this is too juicy for them to resist.

3. Rove story will be HEADLINE! And probably front page for several days!
Shrub never says anything at these damn speeches, and certainly nothing newsworthy!

I can't wait to see how the talking heads deal with this news. FOX is probably already going insane! Tweety is catatonic! David Grogory is partying! Keith Olberman is partying A LOT!

4. IF rove gets any 'front page' coverage, it will
surely signal that the tide is turning. i'm not holding my breath.

5. If * announces he's sending troops to the border,
then the MSM will ignore the Rove indictment. I have no faith in the MSM. They ignore most negative * stories.

8. That's exactly what I'm thinking.
Hopefully, Fitzgerald will wait for the smoke to clear. I want the Rove story to be a total buzzkill for the White House PR staff.

Maybe wait until Wednesday or Thursday, just as Bush starts to see a tiny "bounce" in his approval numbers...

By Friday, everyone will be saying, "Bush gave an address Monday night? I can't remember." :-)

7. That news will
shake the capitol like a 9.5 earthquake.

It'll be as big as the OJ trial.
