99. And the media critters are SCARED SHITLESS of Rove
They are waiting to see how this one develops before making any move. They are SCARED SHITLESS of the wrath of the pudgy Machiavelli.

I saw Hardball a few days ago, and Chris Matthews asked his panel if Rove was going to be indicted. All of the panelists looked very uncomfortable, and tried to weasel their way out of that question. David Ignatius (WaPo) even said (in so many words) that he was very uncomfortable with this topic, that he thought there was "nothing there," and that he would rather "not comment." All of this while looking awfully distressed, sweaty and worried. He definitely didn't want to be on the record saying anything bad about Rove, and he looked quite scared on camera.

That tells you why the weasels are not touching this one.

Since yesterday's meeting lasted 14 hours, I expect the 24 hours will be up late this evening.

Work day starts at 9am, plus 14 hours, it will make it around 11pm that yesterday's meeting ended. Unless I read it wrong.

23. This story is big enough to erupt, like a volcano in Indonesia, regardless
of what day it is. Let's not kid ourselves. I can assure you that Isikoff and David Shuster would not take a day off and are probably fervently checking all their sources. They also, obviously, do not want to go public with it until they are 100% sure. That's our best hope. Or, we have been excited and exercised once again for no good reason -- so far...

Why would Fitz tell Rove on Friday that he had 24 hours to get his affairs in order? That seems to indicate that he's getting booked today??

That would mean the indictment came down when?

I feel like I am the only confused here - everyone else is celebrating!

93. I agree.
That's what they did for David Safavian when he was indicted.

The thing that bothers me about Jason's story is that Rove has not yet resigned. If indictment had been served, I think he would have resigned immediately because we know that the WH and media are fond of referring to people like Karl as "former Presidential advisor was indicted" rather than "Presidential advisor indicted." No matter that it was a matter of hours like Foggo this week, they still referred to him as "Ex-CIA office raided."

100. We don't know whether he's resigned yet or not.
We only know his resignation has not been announced, yet. Leopold has also said he was informed that Rove has told * that he will resign immediately if indicted. The optics of that are not that much worse than if he resigned before the indictment, IMO.

From a practical point of view, if Rove resigns before the indictment is announced, everyone will know why he resigned. So it's no big deal, don't you think?

52. Shuster, Isikoff and every other MSM'er remembers Dan Rather.
They know what Rove is capable of, and while I don't believe this indictment business is a Rove trick, they will be extremely careful to get the story verified and have someone who's willing to speak on the record before they break it.

Schimpanski's duty-dodging, yes, you're quite right. If by "the information" you mean the documents Rather cited to prove Georgie's crimes, those were (at least last I heard) faked. Rather walked into a trap laid by Rovian apparatchiks.

Am I getting this wrong?

...Rather "walked into" was the intense pressure placed on CBS by the NeoCon Junta to force Rather to apologize and to fire him from the network. CBS backed down based on a false report carried by all of the other MSM outlets that the docs were fake.

28. We know that one reason this administration has been able to get away
with so many things is the LACK of reporting by the major news outlets. We have discussed this countless times, so it comes as absolutely no surprise to me that they are not speaking out. I have always considered Truthout, Will Pitt, and Jason Leopold to be reputable. If we consider the lack of coverage on major issues so far, then the MSM are only following their all-too-predictable pattern.

89. Who didn't read the article? You're wrong. The article said...
that he has 24 hours to get his affairs in order, whatever that means. Doesn't look like will's going to answer that question either, when he was specifically asked about it.

55. It's not news until Fitz or Rove say it.
Edited on Sat May-13-06 05:54 PM by Patsy Stone
One of them has to say something, or be questioned by someone who asks them about it.

68. Not Officially Announced Yet. Will Take Place Next Week, With A Press
conference.

Don't worry, you'll get the coverage you desire. There's nothing to fear.

(And for the record, don't think for a second that Mr. Pitt and Truthout would ever dupe us. They are one of the most reliable outlets for breaking scoops there is, period.)

they need confirmation from the decider. On Kennedy, opinion of cop who wasn't there was good enough.
