Poll question: Dems: How do you think you would describe yourself Politically, Currently
Edited on Sat May-13-06 03:40 PM by KoKo01
If you were asked by a pollster what kind of Democrat you are, what would you say off the top of your head? Not getting into explanation of the nuances of difference in ideology for this poll. Just asking if you've thought enough to be able to instantly reply if you were asked to pick one.

4. libertarian Democrat
Edited on Sat May-13-06 03:51 PM by Idioteque
Socially liberal, fiscally moderate

Pro-choice, anti death penalty, pro gun. I support free trade, single payer health care, and the abolition of corporate welfare and farm subsidies. I am a Krugmanesque new keynesian capitalist.

I despise the DLC, not for their ideas but for their attacks on fellow Democrats. They have a lot of very good market oriented ideas but their refusual to stand up and fight hurts the Democratic party and progressive movement.

31. I'm fiscally moderate but not a "libertarian." I thought about putting
Edited on Sun May-14-06 06:57 PM by KoKo01
that category in the poll but thought better of it when I remembered that RW Scum Grover Norquist who claims to be a Libertarian who said he wanted "shrink government small enought to drown it in a bath tub..

I can't see how one can "drown Gov't in a bathtub" and still be able to help folks who can't help themselves and the Middle Class the Repugs with some Dems help have been working and have almost suceeded in drowning us in that bathtub."

Maybe you can help me on how Libertarians and Dems can ever see "eye to eye" on anything?

Remember Clinton's Tax Increases gave us a SURPLUS...not what Gingrich said this a.m. on the Pundit shows...that it was the REPUGS who under Clinton shrunk the deficit to nothing and created surpluses.

The Repugs Screamed "Bloody Murder" when the Tax Increases were passed...now they want to say it was Poppy Bush and the Repug Revolution under Clinton that made us financially solvent until Chimp was "Installed."

Repugs love to re-write HISTORY to suit their NEEDS of the MOMENT. They are LIARS AND THEIVES. They are not to be believed anymore. IMHO...

Anybody who gets in the way can go fuck themselves.

And yeah, I think Hillary is going to cruise to re-election in 2006 and would make a damn fine candidate in 2008.

29. Yep....when it comes down to the "Voting Day" we are all in this
together. But, it doesn't mean that we shouldn't still be working for our ideals along the way ...right up to the day we sign in to Vote...does it?

11. Frustrated
I've never considered myself much of a partisan for any party, but I'm a lot more sympathetic to Dem ideas than to most. I'm just waiting for the ideas to become action. I don't see how anyone can look at the racial balance in our prisons and the rate of prison growth through the Clinton years and not figure that both parties dropped the ball badly. Too much concern with various power blocks and not enough with pure right and wrong, in the end I think that helped contribute to the loss of both. Sometimes people respect us better for taking on the unpopular cause, even if they don't agree. At least we'd have had our values intact, and if we're right we might have made a difference.

And I'm a Democrat. What kind of Democrat? The kind that welcomes all Democrats without putting into subgroups.

As long as you're a democrat, that's good enough for me.

21. I have to love what you say: "I'm just ME."
it's sort of important...if there wasn't so much stuff around it.

:toast: for "I'm just Me!" but...you know ..."just me" isn't what they want to hear or what get's recognition anywhere anymore...

It used to be......but it just "ain't" these days.

But...I hear you...I wish it could be that, once again.
