The Rovian Two-Step and the Media Beehive
Speaking of detecting patterns, it should be quite evident to anyone even remotely paying attention that Rove has developed a pretty nifty, and now quite predictable, pattern of responding to any challenge to the BushCo regime's assault on the Bill of Rights and the rule of law.

Let's take the latest example of the recently reported wholesale monitoring by the NSA of domestic telephone calls. You'll notice that I did not use the word "revealed" because bloggers have been discussing government programs with names like Echelon and Carnivore for years. When USA Today ran with the story that BushCo has been lying about the targets and the scope of the eavesdropping, Rove knew exactly how he would respond. Don't forget people that if USA Today's story is true, the NSA has been a REAL TIME third party to all of their conversations about this story. Every conversation by every editor, lawyer, executive and worker that discussed this story has probably been in Mr. Roves morning "in" basket. The point is that Rove and BushCo ARE NOT BLINDSIDED by these stories no matter how clumsily they handle them.

The Rovian Two-Step

It seem quite obvious that the pattern Americans should see demonstrated in the NSA spying case is the use of suspect polling data followed by an unrelenting and pervasive repetition of the suspect poll results by the five giants of the media world. In this case, Mr. Morin at the Post released a poll within minutes of USA Today's story being reported. (It's almost as if he knew this was coming. Wink! Wink!) His poll indicated that 60+% of Americans are willing to let the US Government monitor all of their phone calls to catch terrorists. Within minutes of this event, every AP outlet, every Clear Channel radio station and all of cable news was blaring at the top and bottom of each hour Americans don't care about their 4th amendment rights if it keeps them safe.

Jane Hamsher at firedoglake.com reported on the methodology of the poll and she reprinted the questions at the link below. Take a look for yourself and you should be able to see the bias in asking Americans if they want to make a choice between privacy or being killed by terrorists. You should also note the amount of times you have heard or read the results of this poll in the MSM yesterday and today. Wanna bet that Timmeh Russert and all the Sunday shows will repeat this BS poll as fact? It is the Rovian two step. Create a bogus reality and have the drones in the media beehive deliver the bogus reality to each and every American.

2. Morin: “Hello Mom? Would you support honorable and morally upright
Christian President Bush if he wanted to wire tap a Taliban-Al Qaeda-Mafia-Hamas, rapist, pedophile with hepatitis and AIDS who never washes his private parts who was planning on blowing up an orphanage filled with handicapped Christian children?

Morin to pollster: “That’s one Yes, put it down”

4. This is where we need
a Democrat call-them-on-it swat team to show their desperate bullshit. Not a stammering apologist like Pelosi.

5. Amen!
I have been waiting for the last few years for a Democrat to clearly and plainly discuss the failings and complicity of the media.
