Sign the Tits Not Trees petition
http://go.care2.com/e/kqz/la/o9tW

We're close to a tipping point! Victoria's Secret is
going to renew it's paper contract in June, and your
pressure can help save the endangered forests
currently being destroyed by the company.

There's nothing sexy about destroying over two acres
of trees every minute, many of which simply end up as
catalogs in a landfill. Sign this petition:
http://go.care2.com/e/kqz/la/o9tW

The next month and a half is clearly a crucial time
for this campaign. Victoria's Secret needs to hear
loud and clear that people do not support the
destruction of the world's remaining Endangered
Forests just to make disposable catalogs!

On Tuesday, April 11th, over 225 actions all across
the country took place urging Victoria's Secret to
reform their dated catalog policy, halt the
destruction of Endangered Forests, and use more
recycled paper. Victoria's Secret heard loud and clear
that people across the country want them to stop
destroying Endangered Forests now. When you sign this
petition your signature will be faxed to
Victoria's Secret headquarters in a mass action around
May 14th.

On May 22nd, Victoria's Secret's parent company, the
Limited, will have their annual shareholder meeting.
And soon after, Victoria's Secret will have the
opportunity to make a drastic improvement in their
catalog policy when the contract with their paper
supplier, International Paper, expires.

Help us clean up Victoria's dirty catalog policy
before they sign a new paper contract:

2. I bought one bra... ONLINE!
And for that I'm rewarded with three or four catalogs a week that go right into the trash.

I can only assume that junk mail financially supports the US Mail.

4. You're absolutely right.

Junk Mail is the lifeblood of the US Postal Service. Without it, mailing a letter or a bill would go up, way, WAY up. Of course, way back before the Congressional directive that mandated that the Postal Service make a profit, it was the US Post Office, and it wasn't expected to make a profit. It was more of a service then that it is now, and it didn't need to live on junk mail.

8. Junk mail contributes to the forest destruction! Profit does too.
I'm sick to death of slash and burn for corporate interests.

6. Suggestion: Call the number on the back of the catalog and request
that they remove your name from their mailing list. My understanding is that they are required to comply. I did this with a whole stack of catalogs I was getting from various sources and now I no longer get any of those. The response to the request to be removed has always been along the lines of "yes, right away", suggesting that those taking the calls have been told they MUST remove you from their list if you request it.

Also, I think you are right that junk mailers have much more control over Post Office policy than we do--why else would it be cheaper to mail heavy junk catalogs than simple letters?

3. Why can't catalogues be made with fertilizer based ink and then
be turned back into fertilizer for trees.... crazy idea I know, but why put them in a landfill??
