Grief Compels Marine's Dad to Support War

Talk about misplaced grief and anger. He lost his son, so he's going to support other people's children being sent to play russian roulette and some of them to die as well. And for what? A nation in which the majority, even those who were inclined to be friendly and supportive at first, wants us O-U-T. Now, not later, NOW. While I appreciate the fact that he's in a lot of pain, he does NOT have the right to demand other people feel the same pain.

1. His pain=Denial...
Edited on Sat May-13-06 09:03 AM by TwoSparkles
The loss of his son is painful enough.

To acknowledge that his son died for the lies of warmongering, neocon scum--would be mind blowing and even more devastating than the loss of his child.

So--to alleviate his discomfort, he plays along. He desperately needs to believe that his child died for something just, and that our government has good intentions.

Denial that affectively numbs pain--needs a lot of feeding. His sudden involvement in this "pro war" stuff--ensures that his denial is fed on a daily basis.

BushCo makes the world sicker and less safe--with each passing day.

2. The Dad is former Air Force tech school instructor
Sounds like someone who never saw combat but probably talked up how great the military was for him and now feels guilty that he didn't do more to discourage his son from enlisting. So he sublimates that guilt and tells Bush what a great job Bush is doing supporting the vets. It is sad that many people never realize that war is always about money and power - at least for the ones who start wars - like Hitler and Bush.

4. Even baser than that is the old saw....
...I lost a son in this conflict therefore you must lose a son. Or some such insane drivel like that.

5. This is the reason I will never support a draft
There are too many parents out there who would be proud to have a son die for Bush. At least right now without a draft a kid has some chance to make his own decision.

My parents were ignorant too. They would have had no problem letting myself or my brother be drafted to go off and die in Vietnam for Nixon. Another crook.
