1. The poll is BS
MSNBC & the WSJ, among others, reveal just the opposite - most Americans oppose the database.
The Fox News wannabe, The Today Show, is sticking to the BS poll as well showing it this AM before I could reach the remote to turn it off!

2. No joke - was on local news last night
No mention of the numerous polls since then, nor the polls on their own g-d websites. I guess only liberals use the net, huh?

4. We're the reality crowd, remember?
And, we all know reality has a well-known liberal bias.

3. I heard that too, and I think it was on CBS radio.
No 63% of Americans do NOT think the spying is OK.

5. If that is even true, and I'm not saying it is,
it's only because we have been trained well for all this by the corporate retail world, which long ago taught us that it was all right to trade away some of our privacy in return for DISCOUNTS and SAVINGS on their merchandise.

They wanted to get us to let them know everything we bought from their stores, when and where. They also wanted to train us to be loyal to them and not shop elsewhere. Hence: The Store Loyalty Card. You now need the Store Loyalty Card in order to not have to pay the 20% surplus the store sticks onto everything not purchased with the Store Loyalty Card.

Most people have a walletful of Store Loyalty Cards or keychain full of Store Loyalty mini-cards. They don't buy a thing without one. And by doing so, they give stores a complete history of what they are buying, where and when, at all times. And why? Because it SAVES THEM MONEY.

Many of them see no big deal to this. After all, they know their credit record is already floating out there for people to see. This is just another form of Big Brother they have accepted as part of modern life.

It's really not such a short hop from that to letting the government know who you've been calling on the phone, is it? Once you surrender your privacy in shopping, isn't it much easier to surrender your privacy in phone calling? On the theory that, well, I've been doing nothing wrong, what do I care if they know who I called and who called me?

Oh, and there is that small fact that a lot of them were asleep or out sick that day in high school when their teacher in government class was explaining to them about the Constitution and the Bill of Rights and all that boring stuff they didn't want to have to learn but there was a test on it so they had to memorize it. But they forgot it as soon as the test was over. IF they could remember it long enough for the test.

Is it any wonder people like that see absolutely no problem with any of this?

6. It's important that they tell us what we think
otherwise how would we know? :sarcasm:
