Hey fellow DU'ers, I bought Citgo gas today for
$2.99 on Germantown, MD on Germantown Rd. There is an Exxon Station across the street for $3.07. These stations are located on the I-270 corridor. The great thing is the Citgo gas has 10% ethanol.

I will go there often

1. How much was premium?
The cheap place on 108 in Olney was 3.35

6. You know, I only buy 87
Edited on Sat May-13-06 12:12 AM by smtpgirl
on that note, I could have bought better vehicles with better MPG's but I bought my car with 0% interest and it runs on 87, but a close estimate I think is 3.29 for premium

I shop for price, but I don't go out of my way.

The added bonus at the Citgo was the 10% ethanol.

This makes 10% less for the oil industry as a whole, not much, but if it is a daily practice, you will see heads roll

If you buy Citgo with 10% ethanol, and it is selling well, then the Big Dogs will get the idea.

Remember LITTLE STEPS to get your wish

7. A dictator is a good guy?
He has complete control of the media. He has control of the legislature. He just recently passed a law that throws political dissidents in prison for 40 days.

Every nation in latin and south America have made advances to civil liberties EXCEPT Venezuela.

Yes Chavez hates Bush and American foreign policy. But his abuse of power and destruction of civil liberties blows any chance of him getting my support.

13. No. Chavez brings out the worst sort of "Liberals".
They react on gut and media driven fellings.

They are mostly without hope of changing either.

15. Sorry, but I favor civil liberties and democracy
And I havn't seen Chavez promote either one of those things in his country.

He helps the poor and he hates Bush. He gets a few pluses for that. But most of the rest of the things he does he gets a minus for. And he has a lot more minus signs than pluses.

18. Yeah. That site
looks like it's big on agenda, and not so much on concrete information.

Would you like to point me to something a little more specific?

He has also packed the Supreme Court with 12 new judges that fully support his policy. So he has complete and total control of that government. There is no check and balance of his power.

16. That's a 2005 Amnesty International report
It appears there wasn't as much there there as people thought, beyond lots of allegations.

Venezuelan Opposition Case Thrown Out of International Criminal Court

Friday, Feb 17, 2006
By: Alex Holland – Venezuelanalysis.com

Caracas, Venezuela, February 17, 2006—The International Criminal Court (ICC) rejected an appeal by Venezuelan opposition groups to prosecute the Venezuelan government for human rights violations. Chief Prosecutor for the ICC, Luis Moreno-Ocampo, said the charges had a, “lack of precision as well as internal and external inconsistencies in the information.”

The ICC was set up by international treaty in 1998. Its purpose is to deal with the most serious human rights violations such as war crimes or crimes against humanity. Venezuela signed up to the ICC in June 2000.

Charges were first brought to the court in 2003 by Venezuelan lawyers representing Venezuelans associated with the opposition. The lawyers argued that they had suffered crimes against humanity at the hands of the Venezuelan government.

Most of the crimes they say they suffered were during the April 2002 coup, when Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez and his government were briefly removed from power before being restored days later by the military and popular protests.
On February 9, the ICC issued a statement saying the court was unable to move forward with a formal investigation. This was because the information provided did not match the allegations.

5. I purchased Citgo gas recently for the first time, on purpose
I have noticed the Exxon station by my home is looking rather lonely these days, and this is along a major freeway. It used to be busy...I wonder if the retirement package they okayed had anything to do with it.

8. The reason I buy at Citgo is not the price.
Here the price is pretty average. I can find gas a few cents cheaper (or pricier) at other stations. But instead of putting 10% of my gasoline bill into the pocket of Exxon or other predators, it is going to meet the needs of the people of Venezuela. That is worth more to me than saving a few pennies.

When I am in their locale I fill up, but it is in opposite direction of my little world.

sigh.
