ABC bogus poll on NSA & Abramoff playbook on early push polling
There have been seberal posts explaining what makes this a push poll. Reading the methodolofy I was reminded of Abramoff playbook - as exposed in some personal notes that were on line.
He talks about spending 245 million dollars in push polls - and how important that is that it be done bright and early - BEFORE the opposing party gets to inform the public;
Here's Abramoff:

1. I'm a "Robbed Voter" too. Great post. I see a clear connection.
WaPost, ABC, MSM in general are not distinct entities. They are part of the White House operation.

Great to see thistrash in plain sight. I love this post. It's the real deal.

12. Well, I DO know what to say...You're pretty rude!
Did it never occur to you that perhaps I was looking for comments about this topic? I'm very happy that your mother has been getting alert posts....I haven't, nor do I care to. You are the very first person on DU to 'put me down'.....thanks!

7. What can we learn from this?
Plenty! For one thing, we have their entire strategy in about two paragraphs. They are doubtless using the same playbook for current issues, from the NSA programs to immigration. They poll early because "you have to be able to measure that which you want to change."

But in the case of the NSA, this first poll is a distortion, and any subsequent polls (with straightforward wording) will be lower. The administration will see this as trending down and either a) panic or b) stick with the language in the original poll; or possibly c) remember that they distorted the original numbers and realize that they've been drinking their own Kool-Aid. Their own push polls will be inexplicably higher than everybody else's, and any future talking points will be distilled from the questions that poll the highest. So all we have to do is watch the push polls to get the wording they'll be using and plan a counterattack, while at the same time conducting unbiased polling with the real scope of the activity in question plainly spelled out.

Incidentally, I happen to believe starting out with a push poll will backfire. For one thing, it's not a real picture that they're planning from, so they're already at a strategic disadvantage. For another, the average Joe will be even more outraged that nobody's outraged. They'll think they're all alone until they talk to someone else and realize they can't find anyone who's willing to admit they're NOT outraged. The emotion behind their future word-of-mouth contact with others is likely to persuade those on the fence that this program is not just illegal but a subversion of basic liberty. So the president numbers will continue to tank, and as more realistic assessments pour in, the number of people willing to say "it's all right with me" will diminish.

8. Great find. See also this thread on the bogus ABC/WaPo "poll":
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=364x1174702
thread title (5-12-06 GD): Bogus WaPo/ABC poll on Americans' "support" of NSA spying-FIGHT THIS SCAM!

Note in reply #23 of that thread that the company doing the poll, which is utterly without value and without published basis, has "telecommunications service providers" as its primary clients. Conflict of interest, much?

10. I wonder if anyone in the Christian community feels punked.
With all this info out now about Abramoff and the manipulation of the church it seems obvious they have been targeted and used for their lack of critical ability. I guess they would have to be told about the manipulation to feel "punked" and who would tell them??
