Sorely missing in the latest NSA revelations is the FISA issue. Not following this Act is the crux not mentioned much.
When people are asked if this NSA data gathering is "acceptable" in the fight against terrorism they are being asked the wrong question. No wonder the average Joe doesn't mind when framed that way.
The question really is: Do you support the fact that there is no oversight of the NSA's domestic surveillance, by any other branch of government, not even the Justice Department?
That is the question we need to be asking. Unchecked power. We need to have a check in place to make sure other uses of this data are not being done for political and commercial purposes.
