Bill pulled recently - NSA connected?
In an article today about Washington State legislators' reaction to the newest revelations about the NSA data collection going on, there's a part near the end about a possible connection with a bill that was recently pulled.

Rep. Jay Inslee joined three other Democratic House members to demand a hearing into the privacy of telephone records.

The letter, to the chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, Rep. Joe Barton, R-Tex., pointed out that the committee unanimously passed a bill that would "protect consumers from having their phone calls accessed without their permission."

The bill was scheduled for a vote on the House floor May 2, and it was widely expected to easily pass. At the last minute, however, the bill was pulled "because of undisclosed concerns of the House Intelligence Committee."

Inslee and the other lawmakers who signed the letter said the committee should investigate the series of events in the wake of Thursday's revelations.

Hmm, very interesting. I wonder if we could get some energy behind supporting investigating this? It seems to be a thread connected to the situation and you never know what can be unraveled when threads are pulled.
