OIC FINALLY! JEFFS LETS UM BLAB ABOUT WELFARE AND PISS OFF THE RIGHT
Edited on Fri May-12-06 01:41 AM by Jeffersons Ghost
Let's not over-look that naughty multiple wife aspect. That will surely awaken the Christian Fundamentalists. But wait... Isn't Jeffs a type of Christian Fundamentalist? I wonder if they will find an off-the-wall Evangelical for the FBI to place on the most wanted list next month. The freak show might be amusing while Congress sneaks by another hugh tax cut to the ultra-rich, as we all get about twenty bucks for the whole damn year. Well enough of my ranting. Here's the Jeffs story.

Polygamous sect leader makes FBI's most wanted

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (AP) -- Polygamist church leader Warren Jeffs has been placed on the FBI's Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list in hopes that the additional exposure and reward money will lead to his arrest. Jeffs, 50, is accused of arranging marriages between underage girls and older men.

He is wanted in Arizona on criminal charges of sexual conduct with a minor. He also was charged in Utah with rape as an accomplice. (Watch life in the town Warren Jeffs led -- 4:15)

"We are doing everything we can to track him down," Fuhrman, special agent in charge of the FBI's Salt Lake City field office, said Saturday.

Jeffs is the leader of the polygamous Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, based in the neighboring communities of Hildale, Utah, and Colorado City, Arizona.

On CNN I heard only one wife files as married and the rest get public assistance for themselves and their children.

6. Yes, and it's very sad
The FLSD are taught that the government is bad as is the rest of the country. They are not allowed to watch TV or listen to the radio.

The "prophet" controls them completely. Often giving underage girls to middle aged men. The "prophet" will kick out a male and reassign his wife and children to more worthy males.

And someone can't imagine him being on the top ten list?

11. no, I can't imagine...unless you want to put all fundamentalists
on the list.

Many believe the government is bad, that women are submissive and marriages are arranged.

not only that, this has been going on for 150 years and the feds didn't get involved. Many of the leaders are nuttier than Jeffs.

We've been asking that question all week: why Jeffs and why now? Many of them marry underage girls, have for years. Very hard to prosecute them (did in the 50s and the governor was defeated for relection, did a few years ago in Utah County and the prosecutor was defeated for reelection. People may say they don't support polygamy in Utah and Arizona but they turn anyone who goes after them out of office.)

And Jeffs has been on the run for some time. Arizona and Utah cracked down on some of the welfare abuse and the land is being held in trust by the courts because they didnt' pay their taxes and Jeffs moved some of his people to Texas. Interesting stuff.

Read Under the Banner of Heaven...and there were a series of articles in an Arizona paper a couple of year back about them ripping off the school systems.

No one is more shocked by Jeffs being on the most wanted list than law enforcement in Utah. We don't get it.

5. Mitt Romney will have a harder time in 08 now.
The Latter-day Saints are on the rise in the US, and a Republican named Mitt Romney has hopes of becoming the first Mormon president. But the church has one serious image problem: polygamy.

Romney, the Republican governor of Massachusetts, is a direct descendant of one of the Mormon church's original pilgrims. He joined the Mormon priesthood at 12, and became a church elder at 18, before serving as a missionary in France. In December, he announced that he would not seek re-election for the governorship, and he is now making all the manoeuvres and noises that typically presage the declaration of a candidacy for the White House.

Almost makes you wonder if the powers that be are making this a bigger deal on purpose to weaken Mitt.

10. you misunderstand Erika
I'm not caught up in the drama or specific details. I know how bad it is genetically, legally and even morally but to me it's an odd-ball, off-the-wall, media circus. You know, like Circus Maximus in the old empire.

12. Everything happens for a reason. Especially in the media.
Governor Mitt Romney shocked the political world by coming in second place in the highly anticipated straw poll at the 2006 Southern Republican Leadership Conference in Memphis! Romney easily defeated Senators George Allen and John McCain, proving that Romney’s message resonates in the South.
