The ONLY PHONE COMPANY who resisted NSA/Bush/Emperor Requests was QUEST.

Tell me that ALL OF US are going to shut down our "phone service" over this.

We have NO CHOICES in MOST OF AMERICA! With Cell or LAN...MOST OF US HAVE NO ALTERNATIVE!

GOT IT? ARE YOU CLUELESS? WE HAVE NO CHOICE!!!!! Capitalism at it's FINEST! Mergers and Acquisitions at it's most FINEST...according to MARKET FORCES!

2. Yes, but I just called Qwest to tell them if they were in California. . .
I'd use them in a hearbeat. The CSR laughed and said they'd had an incredible number of calls just like mine today and it will hopefully spur Qwest to expand their operations. Presently, they're in 14 states with plans to expand, and the interest shown today will definitely provide incentive for them to invest in the risk.

It is true: We have to work within the confines of the structure in which we live. But nothing says we can't try to change the structure.

4. This was the kind of pressure which was put on Quest to comply
...Trying to put pressure on Qwest, NSA representatives pointedly told Qwest that it was the lone holdout among the big telecommunications companies.

It also tried appealing to Qwest's patriotic side: In one meeting, an NSA representative suggested that Qwest's refusal to contribute to the database could compromise national security, one person recalled.

In addition, the agency suggested that Qwest's foot-dragging might affect its ability to get future classified work with the government.

Like other big telecommunications companies, Qwest already had classified contracts and hoped to get more.

6. I had Qwest when I lived in the west, and sadly, they sucked.
I live in the east and can't get them now anyway, even if I wanted to.
