Qwest, the only phone company who didn't sell out America.
Edited on Thu May-11-06 05:37 PM by mikelewis
Sounds like a marketing bonanza to me.

If your shopping for a phone line that the government hasn't tapped yet, give Qwest a call.

If your tired of your incompetent government snooping in on your calls, give us a call. Trust us, we're the only one's listening.

Freedom isn't Free, it has plans starting as low as $20 a month.

Your Qwest for a company that won't Rat you out to an idiot is over!

The three carriers control vast networks with the latest communications technologies. They provide an array of services: local and long-distance calling, wireless and high-speed broadband, including video. Their direct access to millions of homes and businesses has them uniquely positioned to help the government keep tabs on the calling habits of Americans.

Among the big telecommunications companies, only Qwest has refused to help the NSA, the sources said. According to multiple sources, Qwest declined to participate because it was uneasy about the legal implications of handing over customer information to the government without warrants.

Qwest's refusal to participate has left the NSA with a hole in its database. Based in Denver, Qwest provides local phone service to 14 million customers in 14 states in the West and Northwest. But AT&T and Verizon also provide some services — primarily long-distance and wireless — to people who live in Qwest's region. Therefore, they can provide the NSA with at least some access in that area.

Wouldn't it be great if their stock just goes right through the roof?

5. Appearantly, the other companies also had the option to opt out of the...
program. If Qwest said no, they could have as well. So, I agree, if your company is found to have violated the law in regards to your privacy, you should find someone who hasn't.

13. Evil Empire Qwest
I worked for Qwest in sales. Our business model was to ram as many unwanted products down each customers throat as was possible and make it absolutely impossible to return anything you didn't want. It's called slamming and cramming. However I applaud them, scum that they are, for taking this stand.

Hi mondo you lurking piece of merde.

18. They do suck, next month they'll add a 'Privacy Protection Fee'
Edited on Thu May-11-06 06:08 PM by ToeBot
They would have added it a months ago but they are so inefficient that they are just now catching up with the paperwork. I still think that the reason they didn't turn over the records wasn't the lack of warrants, but rather, because they are so incompetent they couldn't figure out how to do it.

I called and they said they didn't do it. I'm not sure I believe their customer service rep, but they're saying they had nothing to do with it.

19. Salazar lauds Qwest's refusal to help NSA

U.S. Sen. Ken Salazar applauded Qwest Communications International Inc.'s refusal to cooperate with the National Security Administration's request to turn over phone call records of tens of millions of Americans.

In a statement released Thursday, Salazar said he long has been concerned about the NSA's domestic spying program, and that USA Today's May 11 story, in which it reported the NSA's request for phone records, reinforced his concerns.

Salazar lauded Qwest for "its decision not to share private information with the NSA."

Salazar, a Democrat, served as state Attorney General before winning a U.S. Senate seat in the 2004 Senate elections. He has been a member of the U.S. Senate since January 2005. He and Mel Martinez are the first Hispanic U.S. Senators since 1977. They were joined by Bob Menendez in January, 2006.
