Let me be the first to say if they succeed in ousting Dean...
He will be my candidate for '08 (barring a Gore entry). He is right about rebuilding this party and it scares the bejesus out of the pols. Fuck Them!

p.s.
I'm actually not the first to say that, I'm sure.

27. That's why the DINOs want to oust him.
It's pressure from the corporations. A populist movement is not what corporations have in mind.

6. I don't think Dean is going anywhere! Even Wolfe asked
Candy Crowley "Is Dean's Chairmanship in trouble?" and she said NO! There has been an ongoing battle between the guys in DC and Dean about what's best for the Party, but even insiders she talks to say this is just an internal policy spat.

7. you are probably right, the DNC state chairs support his plansss
and I think they would be the ones who would have to vote to oust him, but you never know for sure.

8. My support for Dean as party Chair isn't necessarily correspondent to
my suspicion of who's trying to oust him.

But if the path continues to trail through Paul Begala and Jim Carville, this observer's suspicions are running pretty high.

I'd like to see Howard Dean remain as Chair and I'd like to see those trying to shove him out encounter fierce resistance in the early caucuses and primaries.

9. I said it in another thread. The Repubs have the Clenis
The DLC has Dean.

It worked in 2000 for the Repubs and in 2004 for the DLC.

Looks like the DLC is running scared and need to trot out the Deaniac.

Any predictions on the MoreOfTheSame/ConventionalWisdom Crowd's talking points???

"Yaaargh!" comes to mind.

Edited on Thu May-11-06 04:29 PM by nomaco-10
that got me fired up and truly proud to be a democrat. The bravery and courage he showed when he stood up to the bush* machine with the unvarnished truth, was nothing short of inspiring. Who knew it would be those from within his own party that would be the ones that would dismantle his presidential campaign in the end.
If Dean goes, I go.

19. I agree, he made a stupid mistake in an interview but that
is NOT a reason to judge him to harshly.
It is important "not to equivocate depending on the audience." and he made a silly mistake in this interview, although most of what he said was cool, but I think he is sincerely sorry. I'm not ready to give up on him.
There was no upside to this gaf. Unfortunately the repubs are using it as amunition against him/US too. but this not the worse slip up in politics.
http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/national/1110AP_Democrats_Gays.html He needs to make sure he 'gets' our values straight!
I am afraid if we loose him we will wind up with someone LESS progressive.

17. And Begala knows better. Dean has built....
...an impressive grassroots operation nationwide (and especially in red states). For Begala to say what he did today is the very height of disingenuousness. Begala's just pissed because his clique isn't the one controlling the money right now.

16. I see a Murdoch-Hillary connection.
I know what this is about. The corporate world wants corporate friendly politicians, but does not want a hardass like chimpy boy (because he pisses everyone off, since he blatantly exposes their agenda). They see the steam of the citizen's anger and the rise of resentment against the corporate abuses of our system. They are courting the appropriate DLC-ers (like Swillary) so they can maintain their status quo or worse, further expand their power. Meanwhile, their shills in the democratic party are fighting the pro-democracy reform movement from the inside.

Slime-balls...all of them (DLC-ers, GOP-ers...multinational corporations).

I really think he's a brilliant DNC Chair. He understands organization and policy. Plus he pisses off the other side in a big way.

RE-ELECT GORE 2008.
