1. Here's a radar link:
http://www.goes.noaa.gov/ECIR4.html

It's definitely got a hurricane look to it. Weird.

22. Thats just the typical
Minnesota fishing opener storm. They said it will be raining sideways and in the 30s on Saturday just great timing once again.
But up here we like wind for fishing walleyes.

6. I know the wind has gotten to some up there and they are
without electricity

Amazing stuff it makes you wonder in this age of Global warming we are seeing strange weather patterns
in areas that were never eperiencing it

9. Yes we are seeing strange weather patterns....
here in the Buffalo area we had such a mild winter and some real early warm weather. I never had to drive to work or home from work in bad weather or bad roads the whole winter.

10. I'm in Wyoming County
And it's so windy I can't hear myself think when I'm outside.

All the new growth from the evergreens is littering the ground. And all the crabapple blooms, which just opened, are being blown off the trees.

13. I haven't been outside since lunch time so maybe it's getting..
worse here in Buffalo. We are usually pretty windy anyway because of Lake Erie but today it was bad. Any major damage yet or power outages?

24. The power has been blipping on and off
So much for all the digital clocks.

It's finally calmed down and it's raining. Actually, it was kind of nice picking asparagus in the Spring rain. Not any really serious damage, but new growth on the trees is pretty badly hit.

15. Actually we are
...accustomed to high winds up here. We call them tornados. ;-)

Seriously, we get winds like this a lot, it's not really unusual.

The winds have been blowing hard here (Illinois/Wisconsin border) for about 12 hours.

Cheers

14. It's a strong low pressure system, surrounded by bands of wind and rain
Slow moving one too, it's been affecting our weather all week here in Mid Mo. But hey, we needed the rain, it has been dry, dry here in the Midwest.

Hold onto you hats folks, the winds a-blowin'.

18. "weather bomb"?
That's the nickname I've heard for very strong low-pressure systems in extra-tropical areas (outside of the area normally hit by hurricanes). At least, on the West Coast.

19. There are often gale force winds off Lake Michigan
Usually they come accompanied by LOTS of snow that would usually dump on where WE lived (Michigan City, In)..30 miles away, no snow :(

27. I grew up in the Great Lakes too -- just at the edge of the snow belt ...
Depending on the wind direction, some areas around town could get amazing amounts of snow, even without drifting. I remember taking my driving test in February, and I couldn't be tested on 3-point turns because the snowbanks were 6 feet high on either side of the road, which had shrunk to barely 1 car wide. And forget parallel parking! (They gave me my license anyway.)

25. For some really great radar, go to the NOAA home page and
type in a zip code or city and state. You can really play around with it.

29. Doesn't really seem that bad on the ground here. A bit gusty.
Just checked the weather channel and they say the wind advisory has been removed, still supposed to expect winds up to 40mph. Very steady rain and wind, but nothing to get worried about for me.
