Just Canceled my verizon local phone service
First of all it is easy. Call 18004833000

I simply stated due to the fact they had no respect for my privacy I'm canceling my local phone service.

They stated they did respect my privacy.

I asked them why did they decided to hand over my phone records to the NSA without a warrant?

They said the fight the government all the time.

I asked what about this time?

They said what are you going to do use a cell phone? that is even easier to track.

I said that is none of you damn business. Are they paying you to collect that info also?

They stated they fight the government all the time. (again)

I told them qwest didn't roll over. Further more I paid 2.99 a month for 10+ years so my number wouldn't be listed.

Sounded like they have had lots of cancellations. They certainly weren't in a good mood.

Bottom line I feel better.

1. I'm sure that was satisfying..
However, even though you're switching to Qwest, every time you make a call to an AT&T/Verison/fascist customer your call will be recorded to the database. There's no way around it short of using a ham radio with voice encryption.

7. i have a family member who works for a major cell phone companies
dept who researches and fulfils requests for phone record information & tracking & wiretaps. They get lots of requests with no warrant, citing the Patriot act. More than half. She says that prepaid phones are almost impossible to track, so i got one.. :)

21. And they know full well that...
...any phone traffic involving planning terrorist activity is almost certain to be done on disposable phones or by some other untraceable means, yet they're determined to monitor the calls of average citizens anyway. What does that tell us? It tells me this has nothing whatever to do with fighting terrorism and everything to do with the planned, soon to come, brutal suppression of virtually ALL forms of political dissent.

They're compiling citizen target lists and building detention camps that they claim are for immigration control purposes. It really doesn't require much in the way of deductive reasoning, given this administration's track record, to see where this is headed. The question is, what are we going to do about it?

9. There is a way around it. Don't call anyone who uses those companies
until they switch to a company that is not spying on the American people. I intend to switch later tonight and will tell my friends and family not to call me until they have cut off the brownshirts and are supporting an American company. We can communicate in person or by snailmail. Let's hope they're not reading mail yet.

22. I don't think Qwest is as squeaky clean as they claim
Just a hunch. Look at how the Government is treating Google.. Do you think the NSA just said, "OK Qwest, thanks anyway". I'd bet good money that Qwest just hasn't been caught yet.

23. I have read both but
If you read carefully Verizon wireless is denying it but they certainly didn't deny it on the phone. I think they are trying to stop the hemorrhaging by causing confusion.

15. Even still...
their wireless service is way too expensive. AND I still don't want to be involved with a company who has a branch that may be part of this.

16. I just emailed my landline service, Qwest, to thank them
for not giving in to the NSA. My cell provider uses the AT&T network, however, so I sent a scathing email to AT&T and told them I will be in the market for a new cell provider, one that respects my privacy and the privacy of all law-abiding Americans.

Screw them. Hope they get lots of cancellations.

I tell them I'm an American that believes in freedom and the fourth amendment. Then I call them a fucking communist and tell them to move to russia. That usually shuts them up.

They obviously failed to offer the service you were paying for.
