God Bless America question

At a local school (public school) after the Star Spangled Banner, they ask that everyone remain standing for GBA.

I sat down. I hate this song and its slide to anthem.

This is the first time I recall being asked to stand for it.

Anyone else notice this?

4. Definitely Your Right To Sit. Standing Is No Biggie To Me Though.

Standing is just a typical expression of respect, so nothing wrong with the request really. But anyone who feels disturbed by the concept or against it in any way for any reason absolutely has the right to not comply. You did the right thing by sticking to your personal preference and not standing.
