If the elections are stolen...
...this is the strategy that will be credited with "working"...

Rove revamps the Republican strategy
With ratings down and an election coming up, the GOP take a new tack

By Howard Fineman
MSNBC contributor
Updated: 11:28 a.m. ET May 10, 2006

<...>

Rather than defend Bush, Rove will seek to rally the Republicans’ conservative grassroots by painting Democrats as the party of tax increases, gay marriage, secularism and military weakness. That’s where the national message money is going to be spent.

<...>

The idea is to get Democrats to vote against the tax-cut bill — ANY tax-cut bill. Let the op-ed pages rail about the deficit and the debt; the White House survivalists won’t care if they can find a way to accuse the Democrats of “wanting to raise taxes.”

<...>

The issue of gay marriage will play a part. So far this year, at least seven states will have on their ballots measures to ban same-sex marriage: Alabama, Idaho, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Virginia and Wisconsin. There are citizen-led campaigns seeking to add the issue to ballots in Arizona, Colorado and Illinois.

<...>

Finally, there is the war on terrorism and military strength — the only two areas in the New York Times/CBS poll where voters say they trust the GOP more than the Democrats.

2. And how is this a good idea?
They refuse to discuss the real issues and defend their actions, so why should be vote for them? That is the counterattack Democrats should use.

4. This has always worked well for him before.
Will be interesting to see if the voters still buy
this malarkey.

5. When the election is stolen
(which I believe will happen in November) it will be almost interesting to watch everyone fall all over themselves to explain why voters voted the way they did.

We can only hope that the attempt to steal the election this time will be sufficiently heavy-handed as to be obvious to the most casual observer, and won't succeed. But the real worry can be that they're learning and getting better at it, and won't do anything so obvious as Florida in 2000 or Ohio in 2004.

All they have to do is steal a few crucial precincts, and with no good exit polling (worse yet, most people now mistakenly believe that exit polls are unreliable) it will be impossible to make most people understand what's happening.

6. Elections have been "stolen" since 1789.
Elections have just been a new method to keep people happy about being controlled. By the end of the 18th century it was no longer viable to claim your Leader was elected by God (although that has made a comeback with W) and a new method of convincing people had to be invented. Viola! We are a Democratic Republic. Your vote matters and other platitudes where shoved down people's throats. Occasionally people didn't agree so they had be crushed, imprisoned and killed.

Federal & State Government is at best Armed Coercion and at worst Outright Terror.
