HAVE 200,000 AK47S FALLEN INTO THE HANDS OF IRAQ TERRORISTS?
FEARS OVER SECRET U.S. ARMS SHIPMENT

SOME 200,000 guns the US sent to Iraqi security forces may have been smuggled to terrorists, it was feared yesterday.

The 99-tonne cache of AK47s was to have been secretly flown out from a US base in Bosnia. But the four planeloads of arms have vanished.

Orders for the deal to go ahead were given by the US Department of Defense. But the work was contracted out via a complex web of private arms traders.

And the Moldovan airline used to transport the shipment was blasted by the UN in 2003 for smuggling arms to Liberia, human rights group Amnesty has discovered.

It follows a separate probe claiming that thousands of guns meant for Iraq's police and army instead went to al-Qaeda

And, it has taken George W. Bush to prove to the world just how incompetent a government can be...

13. If the estimates are true
that the terrorist element in Iraq is at most 7% of the resistance, then we are so outnumbered we'd better leave yesterday (if that 7% is represented by 200,000 AK 47's).

" Venezuela Criticizes Rumsfeld Remarks
United Press International

Thursday 24 March 2005

Caracas, Venezuela - Venezuelan officials criticized remarks by the US defense secretary regarding their efforts to improve the country's defenses, El Nacional reported Thursday.Calling Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld a "lord of war," Vice President Jose Rangel said his remarks were "inspired by his goal of getting involved in the internal politics of other nations and violating our sovereignty."

During a visit to Brazil Wednesday, Rumsfeld expressed concern about President Hugo Chavez's recent decision to bolster Venezuela's defenses by purchasing aircraft and arms from Russia.Venezuela is set to receive a reported 100,000 AK-47 assault rifles in the coming months."I can't imagine what's going to happen to 100,000 AK-47s.I can't imagine why Venezuela needs 100,000 AK-47s.I just hope that, personally hope, that it doesn't happen," he said."I can't imagine that if it did happen, that it would be good for the hemisphere."

8. I am impressed by this group's versatile incompetence!
They are simply worthless at anything they do, it is mind boggling. The occasional screwup is one thing, it is to be expected. If nothing goes wrong, it is generally a sign of inaction in my experience. But when everything you do goes wrong, it either means you are star crossed or more likely, incompetent! Looking at this groups track history, I must lean strongly to the latter.

11. It's naive to think this incompetence
Aerocom is controlled by Victor Bout, and is a longtime criminal asset of the US.

Victor Bout, shadowy international arms dealer and war profiteer, runs a network of air cargo companies that specialize in transporting arms to conflict zones. He controls the world's largest private fleet of Antonov cargo planes with heavy airlift capacity, capable of bringing tanks and other heavy arms into difficult terrain. He has fueled dozens of the world's most murderous conflicts by shipping arms clandestinely to rebel groups, trading in diamonds and other precious resources. His field of operations include Afghanistan, Angola, Congo, Liberia, Pakistan, the Philippines, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, and Sudan. He is said to live in Moscow and to operate his air fleets mainly out of the United Arab Emirates. The US and UK reputedly have used Bout's services to bring shipments into dangerous zones of Iraq. For years, Victor Bout has been able to operate with impunity, thanks to his many passports, different identities, and the wide support he enjoys from those in power. A series of UN Security Council reports have named Bout and detailed his deadly operations. Belgian authorities issued an arrest warrant for him on charges of "money laundering practices and criminal conspiracy" and he is on the international arrest list of Interpol. But few expect that he will be brought to justice any time soon.

19. This can't be good.
These diverted shipments can only mean even more shortages of 7.62x39 ammo and spare AK parts for
American Kalashnikov owners.

A case of ammo (1000 rds), that sold for $65.00 - $80.00 a year ago sells for around $150.00 nowadays
(when you can find it). :(
