Ugh!

First off, no one is attacking "In God We Trust", and no one has even attacked the pledge for a while now. At least a year.

So why is this going around again?

Oh, right, I remember. Bush is at 31% and falling.

Better whip people up into a pseudo-patriotic frenzy.

THE PLEDGE IS UNDER ATTACK!!!!!!!!

:eyes:

EDIT: As I received this, it was actually spaced out all over the place and even more incoherent.

But DU took out the spaces and jumbles

5. It was very interesting hearing Mary Cheney on Hannity today.
Strange how Hannity suddenly has a kindler, gentler outlook on homosexuals when the Vice President's daughter is in the room.

6. Shes the only homosexual on the planet who is human
apparently.

Plus, its might seem like a dielemma, but not for Hannity.

He has passionate hatred for gays, but it doesn't come nearly close to making a dent into his sycophantic worship of Bush, Reagan, and anyone close to them.

13. A week ago, I got an email about Charlie Daniels
expousing his belief on how much he dislikes "illegal mexicans." I replied and asked him not to send me anymore emails with that type of content. Haven't heard from him since.
The thing that gets me is I'm of mexican descent, and he knows it. How in the hell did he think it wouldn't upset me?

8. Don't get ill when you see this stuff...
...just respond to it by saying that even the famous liberal philosopher Jesus Christ believed in a separation of church and state.

7. "It is said" this prayer wheel won't turn well
of all the gifts you could give to the military, food, decent equipment, a leader who is not insane far surpass prayer.

9. I gotta figure, its a good thing that God and prayer are keeping
our troops safe.

Because we all know that Bush and the Republicans couldn't give a shit...

10. there is that.
I get annoyed with people who say prayer is the best thing to give anyone. Yes, it helps, but so does basic physical necessities. Although if you don't have food, shelter, you can always pray. Still.

12. I don't get how prayer helps at all.
How does saying something in your mind help anything, let alone keep people safe?

14. some believe god hears them, some it helps them focus
I don't know how us praying here helps soldiers in Iraq though. That part mystifies me.

11. Re:
That's representative of poor reasoning on the part of the person who E-mailed this to you.

First, they say, "86% of Americans are Christian. I can't understand why the 'One nation under God' is under attack".

I say: so what? Just because 86% of Americans are supposedly Christian doesn't mean that they have the right, as the majority, to force their beliefs on us.

I believe in the separation of church and state, and in religious freedom, but not in religionists who think that they have the right to make this nation overtly Christian at the expense of the non-Christian in this nation.

Second, just because 'One nation under God' is on our currency doesn't mean that it's true. The phrase 'the world is made of snow' may be printed on our currency - that doesn't make it true.

It may be that when this country was first founded, most, if not all, Americans were Christians. But in our diverse world today, it is not true. And if it is true that Christians should have religious freedom in this country, then it follows that other religions (or the non-religious) should have religious freedom also.

Third, the phrase 'one nation under God' was added in the 1950s by Eisenhower. It's not like the phrase was around in 1776 with that phrase. And anyway, how sacred is the pledge, really? Why should we require legitimate citizens to repledge their loyalty to their country every morning?
