Tornado Sirens Going Off
Big rotating thunderstorm bearing down on Fort Smith, AR

rotation largely to east and south of here, but the storm is good sized.

I'm always amazed at how overly cautious they are here since the 1996 tornado when the sirens didn't go off (late at night) and a tornado hit and killed a few people and did a lot of damage.

Tornado damage is like nothing else. Twists everything around, leaves insulation sand blasted on everything.

Guess I'll disconnect from my power and run on battery.

It's getting dark so it's hard to see, but I'll keep my eyes open.

Missing the Bird Flu movie due to interruption by the weather.

3. Watching the Radar
rotation is largely to the east and likely to miss the city proper

but I'm keeping my eyes and ears open.

Thanks

31. Did it. Protected a progressive Republican, more than once.
Edited on Tue May-09-06 10:21 PM by MissMarple
It was the only way progressives could run in this district. Now we have a Dem, the progressive Republican paved the way. The Dem worked hard, lost once, won the second time. He's a great guy.

8. Yeah, I Think Unless She Lives On The Far South Side She'll Miss It
and it is at this point just rotation, albeit strong rotation, west of Ft. Smith

probably will head across the south part of town around 8:30.

16. It is
No offense to Ft. Smith. :) I just don't care for towns that much. You have some nice hills down yonder, though. Like traveling US 71 up to Fayetteville from Texarkana after visiting kinfolk in the Lone Star State.

30. Yeah, I Wasn't Sure I Wanted To See It
because I think it is just a sweeps week terror tactic

I don't think it's a Bush conspiracy

I just think that the corporate media wants people to be afraid if it sells ads

If it sold ads to help people feel peaceful and happy, they'd do it

but fear sells better

what does that tell you about society ????

We secretly enjoy being scared. The adrenalin lets us know we're alive.

I'm just rambling now that the storm is past.

Also, the movie will air tomorrow after the news here. Oh boy a second chance

19. I feel you SPK. But you can't be too cautious with naders.
I've been watching them today--had a few warnings here in OK, but east of me. Oh how I know how you feel, though.

Best of luck to you SPK. I'll be sending you some good mojo.

Be careful. Remember that heavy rain can mask an approaching tornado.

22. The Rotation has moved well to the south and east now
still raining like cats and dogs

sirens still going off

another storm coming behind it, but no tornadic signs with it that I can tell

long night of rain and probably more storms

Bees careful.
