A friend of mine attended the protest at OSU yesterday, said 300+ turned out - he was interviewed by reporters for the Tulsa World and the OSU campus paper the O'Colly. I was happy to hear that, and excited to see the article in today's Tulsa World about it.
Yeah, well - what a disappointing super soft-pedal by the Tulsa World! (Even in the title, for cryin' out loud):
Bush backers, critics rally
Police say the demonstrators were sometimes loud, but always orderly.
STILLWATER -- About 300 people demonstrated against President Bush at Oklahoma State University on Saturday, while about 30 of his supporters gathered nearby to express their respect for the commander-in-chief.
The four-hour protest was noisy at times, but orderly. Protesters shouted "Liar, Liar," when Bush's helicopter hovered overhead, and periodically chanted slogans such as "Bush lies, thousands die," and "Feed the poor, not the war."
Across the street, Bush supporters grew considerably in size after his speech. Their slogans included "Hippies, go home," "Get a job," and "Back to the '60s." complete "story" at: (it's free now)
