Earth's growing population and reliance on non-renewable resources are having a "crushing impact" on the planet, Al Gore told a small group in Nashville Saturday.
"We simply have to change," the former vice president said following a screening of the documentary "An Inconvenient Truth." The film focuses on Gore's efforts to educate the public about global warming, an issue the former presidential candidate has spoken out on for years.
About 250 people were invited to the private screening Saturday afternoon at the Belcourt Theatre.
In the documentary, Gore says he feels he's failed to adequately deliver his message about the dangers of global warming.

Gore finds it "extremely frustrating," he says in the documentary, that the United States is the biggest contributor to global warming, especially given that the U.S. has the technology and knowledge to head off catastrophic events like massive worldwide flooding and the loss of animal species global warming could cause.
