Contact info for Senate Intel Comm phone, fax, email re: Hayden
Edited on Sun May-07-06 12:16 PM by OregonBlue
Given the current level of discord and lack of trust in the Senate and House, it is simply not appropriate that a civilian intelligence agency should be headed by a military leader. The military already controls 80% of the intelligence budget of this country. Is this an attempt by the President and the Secretary of Defense to further militarize the intelligence community? In light of the fact that General Hayden has refused to answer questions of whether the NSA has spied on political opponents, in light of the fact that the president has refused to answer questions about why the NSA does not have to follow the law regarding wiretaps, it is not in the interest of the country to place civilian intelligence collection within the military chain of command. The obvious questions are, to whom would General Hayden owe allegiance? Why would the President choose someone that specializes in electronic surveillance and intelligence technology?

It is time that you, as representatives of the people, stood up for us and demanded answers. It's time you defended the constitution, not a political ideology. It's time you asked yourselves "to whom do I owe my allegiance, the party and the President or the people and the constitution"?

2. You're welcome. I sent my message to every one of them with a
personnal appeal to Saxby Chambliss who has always claimed to be a conservative Republican. How can he allow this, how can he allow 750 signing statements to go unchallenged? Does the President make the law or does the Congress?

5. As of today we can add Hayden's connections to Wilkes et al
to our comments. This guy is dirty. The confirmation is not only going to be ugly but the truth about the crooked contracts and ties to the Cunningham bunch will come out. Are the Repugs ready for this battle?
