I just saw Olbermann's show for the very first time
Here in Sydney we don't get MSNBC and we don't get Olbermann. We do, unfortunately, get Fox 24/7.

Anyway, I heard somewhere that Olbermann and O'Reilly have been having a grudge match and I saw a clip on YouTube.com of Olbermann on Colbert explaining that O'Reilly is "an idiot." I really enjoyed and thought, 'this guy is pretty funny'.

So I searched YouTube for "Olbermann + O'Reilly" and it came up with a whole bunch of his rebuttals of what O'Reilly's been saying about him.

This guy is hilarious! Absolutely brilliant. And there are so many of 'em, so I keep watching. Thank god for internet streaming. :)

Finally, someone who not only fights back but does it in such a funny way. He's very, very good. And I never really knew anything about him until now.

1. Sure glad you got to see him. One thing comes through about him:
He always seems to be a very, very good, kind person.

Early in his tv career, I think, he was a sports announcer/personality of some kind.

He is always very even handed, and mirthful.

Hope he has a lot more great things you'll see, too. :hi:

3. We need more Keith
I worked with Olbermann 25 years ago when he was a radio sportsguy. He's funny, smark, likeable, and embraces such old fashioned concepts as fairness and justice.

What you see is what he is.:hi:

12. Weekdays, he's a co-host on Dan Patrick's show
2-3pm EST.

Bob Somerby over at the dailyhowler.com has taken him to task for doing this, saying it distracts him from what should be his main job. I say that some people can multitask and Olbermann does it quite well, that this can help bring eyeballs to Countdown which is a good thing, and with all the time Somerby spend divided between media criticism and his school project, for Somerby to condemn Mr. Olbermann for moonlighting makes Somerby a hypocrite.

2. Are you American or Australian? I'm always amazed at how many
people abroad are interested in our political arena.

4. It makes for great entertainment. Watching a maniac deceive a country
while the MSM fiddles in the light of the growing flames.

13. People in Europe and in other parts of world

are in tune of what's happening in the US, more than some Americans who turn a blind eye to what's happening in their own backyard. (excluding present company)

6. Better late than never - welcome aboard!
My first trip to Australian back in 2003 (?), I was there about a week and it was during the rolling black-outs here in the U.S. It was hard not to be interested in what was the matter with the world's only superpower sending itself into darkness.

7. OK Murdoch is Australian so we know why FOX is in Australia, however
do you know if he might have the power to block out the others? Perhaps GE/NBC isn't allowed in Australia - or - GE/NBC and CNN don't broadcast to the South Pacific? Or perhaps there is another reason? Do you know?

I am not pushing for GE/NBC in any way.

10. CNN broadcasts here -
but it's CNN International. We get the CBS Evening News also but the thing with Fox is that it's slanted American news 24/7 because they just keep repeating it all day.

And while most people I know occasionally watch Fox News when they need a good laugh, it can get through to people. A friend of mine told me a year ago that he was watching some guy O'Reilly and he was really good and made a lot of sense. I almost killed him.

To answer an earlier question, I'm on Aussie (pronounced Ozzie) born and raised, but I've long been fascinated with American politics. Interestingly enough my university honours thesis, which is due in 17 days, is on Clinton and Gingrich in the 90s.
