Did Cheney Start New Cold War With Russia?
Russian Media Warn of New Cold War
- By VLADIMIR ISACHENKOV, Associated Press Writer
Friday, May 5, 2006

(05-05) 14:09 PDT MOSCOW, Russia (AP) --

Russian media on Friday described Vice President Dick Cheney's harsh criticism of Russia and President Vladimir Putin as the start of a new Cold War.

Cheney's words Thursday at a conference in Lithuania drew a comparison to Winston Churchill's famed "Iron Curtain" speech and reflected the deepening distrust between Washington and a newly assertive Kremlin.

5. Winston Churchill's famed "Iron Curtain" speech didn't start the Cold War
That's like saying complains about Nazi Germany started WWII

Russia is re-empowering itself again after losing the Cold War. I know some here at DU may feel the wrong side won the Cold War (sometimes I believe that myself, comrades) but that did;t happen. But the Russia of today was not the beacon of light, tolerance and peace in was under the USSR. It is a corrupt capitalist fiefdom - a fiefdom that shouldn't be supported by progressives. Just my thoughts.
