Oops! Fidel Castro richer than Queen of England.
Edited on Fri May-05-06 02:55 PM by Kutjara
Just saw the report on CNN. Apparently he made the top 10 of world's richest leaders.

He's reported to be enraged, saying that, as a communist, he has no possessions, they all belong to the state. In all fairness, he can't be spending all that money on clothes and fine living.

edit: punctuation

10. What - Castro has better legs than Gaddafi?
You do realise that Queen Elizabeth is really Colonel Gaddafi, don't you?

Well, have you ever seen them together?

3. Queen Elizabeth II's fortune: close, but no cigar?
As Britain is a monarchy, and the Queen is the head of state, then technically the "state" owns all her wealth as well. Because she IS the state, not simply its representative.

And the same would apply to Castro.

9. That's not quite true.
Much of the places/ things that the Queen uses belongs to the State, but she and her family have a vast personal fortune as well. They own castles and such outright, in addition to the State/ Monarchy-owned things.

4. He's a better speaker too
:toast:

The Pope says pretty much the same thing.

5. But does he have an iPod?
The Queen does. But that really belongs to the State as well. Hmmm. I'll see if I can borrow it for the weekend.

6. Ironical, isn't it? The one man who deserves such wealth... and
the last one to even contemplate the acquisition of personal wealth - though the first the low-lifes mendaciously accuse of it.

Well, that's not true, either. Yasser Arafat was supposed to be creaming off billions from some kind of oil rights, and of course, such libel is anything but new to these scum. Doubtless, we'll be told Chavez has been salting away trillions in Swiss bank accounts. Though with such enemies, maybe it wouldn't be such a bad idea for him to salt away millions in them.

7. Of course.
Since the people accusing him are only able to perceive the world in terms of wealth.

I met Fidel briefly a few years ago and he was a pleasant, slightly shy individual who managed to convey a sincere love of his country. Now I'm not saying that Cuba is all wine and roses or that his hands are spotless, but he is not someone who appears to give a damn about money. His trademark combat fatigues actually looked a bit shabby.

12. Yep, it is like saying Hu is the richest man in the world because
all the assets of China belong to him.

Just part of the forty year old propaganda campaign against Cuba. I wonder how much of our taxpayer dollars went into preparing this report.
