This is the headline at HuffPo. Who could it be? Is is related to Plame or Fornigate?

1. Could these resignations be part of a scandal?
Or are people resigning because of Bush?

40. This is one of the worst....
This is the man who worked out the minute details of the torture that was to be carried out at Gitmo and Abu Ghraib, among other places.

Ham Bone is known to be Rumsfailed's "go-to guy".

An employee of the Pentagon once wrote that "if the Pentagon was under attack, and I only had one bullet, I'd turn and aim at Cambone".

He is despised, reviled by a lot of people.

This is not a second too soon.

53. He is one of those mean, shitty supervisors
One of those bastards who GRINDS his subordinates into crumbling little pieces, day in and day out. Who doesn't treat his people with dignity and respect, and surprise, surprise, doesn't get much loyalty in return. Those that bend and go along do so out of abject fear for their careers.

If it is him, there will be some partying going on...damn, wish I was gonna be in DC if they make the announcement. I know there will be several celebrations if he's outta there....

54. Mine was from the Fannie Farmer Boston Cooking School cookbook
...and about the only thing I did was maybe change the rum ratio, because I had a load of rum. This sounds pretty much like the one I made: http://www.lysator.liu.se/etexts/recept/si/eggnog2.html

I might have added a pincha cinnamon in the recipe, and the nutmeg is a must--either the fancy grated, or the powdered kind if that's all ya got.

I was able to stash it in the fridge for a month. We'd make it right after Thanksgiving, and serve it at Xmas. All the booze in it just stops the dairy from going south!

And good that he did, too. Someone needs to have their shit together to take care of Joan.

My old pal Sue Bailey is up on the tube now, doing the medical thing. Talking about support groups, rehab, professional help, and the COURAGE of Patrick Kennedy. Good show, Sue!

This has turned from an ongoing story of power and privilege, to a rather dull story about a medical problem. Instead of being an object of scandal, he's a poster boy for the hope of recovery.

And on that note, BRING ON THE POKER, the HOOKERS, the CIGARS, the LIMOS, the LOBBYISTS, the CONGRESSMEN, and the CABINET OFFICIALS!!!

44. No, I think he talked early to the Capitol Police supervisor
who was able to figure out that something was badly wrong; that this wasn't a simple DUI. The Rep may have been sleepwalking when he exited his vehicle, and the dashcam showed that.

The cops already had positive control of him, and they would have held him otherwise.

Someone had to give him the ok to just get three tickets and a ride home from one of his cops. The night crew supervisor made the decision early on, shortly after his being stopped, I suspect.

Exclusive: Top CIA Official Under Investigation

No. 3 Official at CIA Is Subject of Investigation Related to Bribery Probe

By BRIAN ROSS, RICHARD ESPOSITO and RHONDA SCHWARTZ
March 3, 2006 — - A stunning investigation of bribery and corruption in Congress has spread to the CIA, ABC News has learned.

The CIA inspector general has opened an investigation into the spy agency's executive director, Kyle "Dusty" Foggo, and his connections to two defense contractors accused of bribing a member of Congress and Pentagon officials.

The CIA released an official statement on the matter to ABC News, saying: "It is standard practice for CIA's Office of Inspector General -- an aggressive, independent watchdog -- to look into assertions that mention agency officers. That should in no way be seen as lending credibility to any allegation.

"Mr. Foggo has overseen many contracts in his decades of public service. He reaffirms that they were properly awarded and administered."

The CIA said Foggo, the No. 3 official at the CIA, would have no further comment. He will remain in his post at the CIA during the investigation, according to officials.

Two former CIA officials told ABC News that Foggo oversaw contracts involving at least one of the companies accused of paying bribes to Congressman Randall "Duke" Cunningham. The story was first reported by Newsweek magazine.

Oh my ... Goss out at CIA.

What about Kyle "Dusty" Foggo?

Late Update: Here at TPM HQ we were listening to the president's announcement. And the talking heads on CNN were speculating whether Goss's departure might be part of Josh Bolten's 'new blood' shake up in the Bush administration. I don't suppose it has anything to do with the fact that Goss is neck deep in the Wilkes-Corruption-and-Hookers story that's been burbling in the background all week. We don't know definitely why Goss pulled the plug yet. But the CIA Director doesn't march over to the White House and resign, effective immediately, unless something very big is up.
</snip>

http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/008350.php

<snip>
This Justin Rood post from TPMmuckraker has quotes from Reps. Duncan Hunter (R-CA) and Jerry Lewis (R-CA) denying that they partied with Wilkes. And here's the follow-up piece from the Journal in which the CIA concedes that Agency #3 man Dusty Foggo did party with Wilkes but didn't stick around for the hookers to show up.
</snip>

28. Jeffrey St. Clair (CounterPunch): The Secret World of Stephen Cambone
Edited on Fri May-05-06 03:15 PM by Jack Rabbit
EDITED for typing

From CounterPunch.org
Dated February 7, 2006

The Secret World of Stephen Cambone
Rumsfeld's Enforcer
By Jeffrey St. Clair

The grave fellow in the business suit sitting between two uniformed generals at the witness table during the senate hearings about the abuse of Iraqi prisoners of war at Abu Ghraib was Dr. Stephen Cambone, the undersecretary of defense for intelligence, known throughout the Pentagon as Donald Rumsfeld's "chief henchman". In his testimony before the committee, Cambone was unapologetic and almost as dismissive as the ridiculous Sen. James Inhofe about the global disgust which erupted over the abuse and murder of Iraqi prisoners of war. Cambone, an apex neo-con and veteran of the Project for the New American Century, evinced disdain not only for the senatorial inquiry but also at a squeamish Lieutenant General Antonio Taguba, who sat next him, looking as if he suspected that he might well be the next one leashed to Cambone's bureaucratic pillory.

A Republican staffer on the Senate foreign relations Committee tells CounterPunch the little-known Cambone, who like so many others on the Bush war team skillfully avoided military service, has quietly become one of the most powerful men in the Pentagon, rivaling even Paul Wolfowitz. "Cambone is a truly dangerous player", the staffer said. "He is Rumsfeld's guard dog, implacably loyal. While Wolfowitz positions himself to step into the top spot should Rumsfeld get axed, Cambone has dug in and gone to war against the insurgents in the Pentagon. Cambone's fingerprints are all over the occupation and the interrogation scandal. For him, there's no turning back".

Cambone has stealthily positioned himself as the most powerful intelligence operator in the Bush administration. On May 8, 2003, Rumsfeld named him Undersecretary of Defense for Intelligence, a new position which Deputy Secretary of Defense Paul Wolfowitz described thus: "The new office is in charge of all intelligence and intelligence-related oversight and policy guidance functions". In practice, this means that Cambone controls the Defense Intelligence Agency, the National Imagery and Mapping Agency, the National Reconnaissance Organization, the National Security Agency, the Defense Security Service and Pentagon's Counter-Intelligence Field Activity. Cambone meets with the heads of these agencies, as well as top officials at the CIA and National Security Council twice a week to give them their marching orders.

One senate staffer tells us he has more operational sway than George Tenet or Condi Rice. His rise to power has been quiet, almost unnoticed until the Abu Ghraib scandal forced him briefly into the spotlight. Indeed, prior to the events of May, Cambone completely evaded detection by Bob Woodward, who in two thick volumes on Bush's wars failed to mention the name Cambone once. Of course, this may reveal more about Woodward than Cambone's skill at bureaucratic camouflage.
