Marathon station selling gas for $2.35 a gallon
Apparently, Marathon was caught "gouging" sometime a few years ago. They chose a station to "reimburse" all the people who were "gouged". Traffic is lined up for a mile, police are having trouble dealing with angry motorists caught in the traffic, people are making illegal u-turns to avoid the mess and getting tickets, and News4 is on the scene asking people how they "feel" and contributing to the traffic jam. All this is going on right across the street from my house. Sheeeesh!

4. It was 1.50 when Big Dog was in office,...
...and the Repukes screamed about that. $2.35 represents a ~57% increase over that, and people are lined up for it, 'cuz it's the cheapest you're gonna find! God bless the United Corporate States of AmeriKKKa!

12. As soon as they went OVER $2.00, I told my husband
just watch..they will keep ratcheting it up and keep it high for long enough , so that $2.00 seems CHEAP.. My prediction has come true...in spades:(

5. If that is the reaction to a $.50 a gallon savings, for a 10 gallon
fillup - $5.00, then we must be in much worse shape than they're telling us. People fighting for the price of a Whopper.

6. I remember a few years ago when I worked in Northville.
Radio station 101.1 (or some such) was advertising gasoline for 1.01 at the corner of Haggerty and Six Mile at a gas station there. I happened to work on Six Mile and I went down there. You could get up to $20 worth at that price for a certain amount of time. I was one of the last few in line. I had a full size Ford Van then. Got almost 3/4's of a tank for $20. I think gas was $1.50 per gallon then. This was about five years ago. Now I have more fuel efficient Ford Windstar (I've got 5 kids so not much choice) and $20 gets me less than 1/4 of a tank.

Oh, for the good ole days of $1.50 per gallon.

7. Update:
Shoot, I had my camera in the car, too and didn't get photos. Anyway, it was a "Fusion" station that was skimming. I remember it now. The station is closed, owners in jail. I remember asking last year who Fusion bought their gas from and was told it was Marathon. This is how the county or state decided to "reward" the people who had been gouged.

8. Was it gouging after 9-11?
Jennifer Granholm was AG then and was merciless about gougers and took them all to court. I think Cox, despite being a republican, followed through on it and got the settlement.

9. Actually, it was more recent.
Within last 2 years. Pumps were set to indicate more gallons were being pumped than actually were.
