If Bush is impeached? then what?
Kerry stated last week he was; "not in favor of impeachment of the president". Bush/Cheney would remain for the rest of their terms powerless. rumor has it that Cheney would resign if the house and/or senate were lost citing "health issues".

The new Dem house and/or senate would then be able to go forward with new hearings and investigations that would ultimately expose exactly what the Bush administration was/is criminal and guilty of while jumping on the; it's going to take a long time to right what this current administration has done wrong since it has taken office syndrome... yaaawwnnn...

So, while I too would be very pleased witnessing the replacement of this administration I can't help but to wonder, what's next? What's the plan? is there one?

1. You know, I'm just in favor of an administration that obeys the law
What would come after the impeachment, conviction and removal from office of George W. Bush? I don't really much care. That's a very long, hard road and with the current corruption that is rife in Washington DC, you can start just about anywhere doing some clean up. Besides, it will put some of the rest of the crooks on notice that we the people are fed up with their illegal shenanigans.

I'm not going to let the conjectural specter of some unspecified "worse" stop me from advocating for the right thing now. It's worthwhile to plan for the "next" step, but what's after Bush is still pretty far down the road.

3. There's more implications, we know Cheney has been the prez
from day one, With Bush gone and Cheney what? changing offices at best? nothing would "change". Iran or the flu epidemic would remain favored for top news scare tactics -- get your minds off of Plame, illegal wire tapping, Abramoff, Libby...Rove?

With Bush gone, Cheney in doubt, would Hassert be in charge? if he kept his job after November?
With Bush in place after losing the house and/or senate, we could then go forward with new hearings and investigations specifically targeting exactly what Bush has pulled off on the american people and other countries as well -- that is if he doesn't resign when the heat is really turned up like Nixon.

5. You guys are aware that the US has never had a successful impeachment,...
Right? I mean I'm not defending Bush here by any means but look at it this way -

Andrew Jackson was impeached, tried but the conviction was overturned due to lack of evidence.

Bill Clinton was impeached, tried, and allowed to continue the rest of his term due to lack of evidence.

Nixon resigned before an investigation into impeachment procedings could even begin.

Even if we COULD get at least get up to an impeachment trial for Bush, I do not know if it would be successful or not.

7. terminology issues.
Two successful impeachments: Johnson and Clinton. Two failures to obtain a conviction, same guys. The imprecise use of the term 'impeachment' lends itself to all sorts of confusion.

Nixon resigned in order to avoid impeachment. I'd call that a highly successful effort. Nixon's subsequent pardon by Ford brings up the next point. Impeachment is the first step towards bringing these criminals to justice, and the first step in redemption for the people of this country in whose name so many crimes have been committed.

6. then we party and wake up hungover listening to Wont Get Fooled Again
http://www.lyricsfreak.com/w/who/wont+get+fooled+again_20146855.html

We’ll be fighting in the streets
We’ll be fighting in the streets
With our children at our feet
With our children at our feet
And the morals that they worship will be gone
And the morals that they worship will be gone
And the men who spurred us on
And the men who spurred us on
Sit in judgement of all wrong
Sit in judgement of all wrong
They decide and the shotgun sings the song
They decide and the shotgun sings the song

I’ll tip my hat to the new constitution
I’ll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Just like yesterday
Then I’ll get on my knees and pray
Then I’ll get on my knees and pray
We don’t get fooled again
We don’t get fooled again

The change, it had to come
The change, it had to come
We knew it all along
We knew it all along
We were liberated from the fold, that’s all
We were liberated from the fold, that’s all
And the world looks just the same
And the world looks just the same
And history ain’t changed
And history ain’t changed
’cause the banners, they are flown in the next war
’cause the banners, they are flown in the next war

I’ll tip my hat to the new constitution
I’ll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Just like yesterday
Then I’ll get on my knees and pray
Then I’ll get on my knees and pray
We don’t get fooled again
We don’t get fooled again
No, no!
No, no!

I’ll move myself and my family aside
I’ll move myself and my family aside
If we happen to be left half alive
If we happen to be left half alive
I’ll get all my papers and smile at the sky
I’ll get all my papers and smile at the sky
Though I know that the hypnotized never lie
Though I know that the hypnotized never lie
Do ya?
Do ya?

There’s nothing in the streets
There’s nothing in the streets
Looks any different to me
Looks any different to me
And the slogans are replaced, by-the-bye
And the slogans are replaced, by-the-bye
And the parting on the left
And the parting on the left
Are now parting on the right
Are now parting on the right
And the beards have all grown longer overnight
And the beards have all grown longer overnight

I’ll tip my hat to the new constitution
I’ll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play

Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!
Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!

Meet the new boss
Meet the new boss
Same as the old boss
Same as the old boss
