3. The I know of an 8-year old who dropped dead of a bad heart
Edited on Tue May-02-06 08:17 PM by rocknation
and remember that story about the American couple who were traveling in Europe and their seven-year old dropped dead? They donated his organs to six different children, and the Italian goverment gave them the status of national heroes.

5. Here's a link to some background.
National Registry of Myocardial Infarctions

Page 16 (as far as Acrobat is concerned), page 13 by document-internal numeration, has some data on incidence of first heart attack age (one chart begins at about age 35, the point being that there's no absolute lower cutoff, just an asymptote reflecting declining risk with lower ages).

Every once in a while a high school or college athlete drops dead, in otherwise great health, with little or no evidence of a drug that triggered it. Heat, stress, excitement, diet, lifestyle can all contribute to it. Some people have the misfortune of being statistical outliers.

6. My neighbor died earlier this year
of a massive heart attack. She was 30. She was active and appeared to be very healthy. Her death was a tragedy. Her younger sister had a stroke in her mid 20's, both her parents had major heart attacks before age 50, and several other family members had a history of heart disease.

May she and Mark Wall rest in peace.
