Wish For 2006: AMERICANS, GET OFF YOUR KNEES!
STOP being motivated by FEAR, whether it comes from Bush or Al Queda -- STAND UP!! This was a brave country -- are we going to give into terrorists and fear mongers like Bush and Bid Laden?

TAKE THIS COUNTRY BACK IN 2006!

We have nothing to fear but fear itself, and fear itself has been THE thing BushCo has been pounding this whole time. I want nothing more than for everyone to just look at him and go, we're not afraid anymore.

1. I've contacted my congresscritters and had a
letter to the editor published about the spying, signed Barbara Boxer's, Louise Slaughter's and John Conyer's petitions...so far.

4. right on!
good for you guys -- I really think, once we call them on it and say, WE WON'T BE AFRAID ANYMORE. They will have NOTHING THEN.

BUSH and BIN LADEN are the only ones that gained and continue to gain from 9/11. The rest of the world has to say ENOUGH to BOTH of them.

3. Agree 1000%
We are losing civil right after civil right in the name of fear. Fear that is neither reasonable nor present.

W thinks he can keep people in line by keeping them fearful, a tactic he learned from Hitler. He adds to it by throwing in right wing extremism Christianity, and they fall to their knees in front of him. Americans need to grow up and be unafraid.

Thanks for your post.

6. Why do you think we aren't?
We've been marching in the streets, we've been calling and writing, we've been yelling and demanding. The simple fact of the matter is, we do not inhabit our country as others do theirs. We aren't original to this land. We'll have our own ways of protest which won't conform to standard models.

We got rid of Nixon. We elected Clinton twice and Gore once (we'd have elected him twice if we'd have been allowed). With the unrest that is building against Diebold (and the status quo wanting to avoid the great violence that will, I'm terrified to admit, ensue unless our elections are free again), we'll beat back the wingnut monster. We did it before, we'll do it again.

What we need to do now is start planning for the aftermath. How do we keep the right-wingers from driving us apart as states into feudal zones and thus destroying what has made us strong? These are the questions we should be asking, imho.

7. To quote Emilio Zapata

"Better to die on your feet than live on your knees".

Words to live by, and I do.

As my bumper sticker proudly proclaims,

THEY CAN HAVE MY CIVIL RIGHTS WHEN THEY PRY THEM FROM MY COLD, DEAD HANDS!

Oh yeah, my other bumper sticker has a picture of Bush next to an Intel swoosh and says "No intel inside"

9. This reminds me of NIN's The Hand that Feeds... :)
you're keeping in step
and in line
got your chin held high
and and you feel just fine
cause you do
what you're told
its inside your heart
it is black
and it's hollow
and it's cold

just how deep do you believe?
will you bite the hand that feeds?
will you chew until it bleeds?
can you get up off your knees?
are you brave enough to see?
do you wanna change it?

what if this whole crusade's
a charade
and behind it all
there's a price to be paid
for the blood
which we dine
justified in the name
of the holy and the divine

just how deep do you believe?
will you bite the hand that feeds?
will you chew until it bleeds?
can you get up off your knees?
are you brave enough to see?
do you wanna change it?

so naive
i keep holding what i wanna believe
i can see
but i keep holding on
and on
and on
and on

will you bite the hand that feeds you?
will you stay down on your knees?
