I voted today.

I didn't realize that today were our local elections for Chesapeake City Council and School Board. As a result, I wasn't too familiar with the issues or the candidates.

Luckily, when I showed up (in my Army uniform), one of the Republican candidates came up to me and handed me a little ticket with all the current Republican candidates for both offices. She blabbed about Republicans supporting the troops (by sending us into a war based on lies) and thanked me for my service, blah, blah. blah.

I voted for everybody *but* the names of the people she gave me, the entire time thinking to myself "Republicans are assholes."

I probably should have researched the candidates and issues a bit more, but when I only have a few minutes free each day, I had to do what I could.

Are you referring to Chesapeake, Virginia. I lived there a long, long time ago. I went to Truitt Junior High (in 66-67) and would have gone to Oscar Smith High but my Dad was transferred before then. We lived on Chesapeake Avenue.

I hope every American votes in every election from school boards, city councils, state, and federal elections.

And you are right "Republicans are assholes", they smile in your face with your military uniform on and at the same time they cut VA benifits and support.
