I'd love to see a video of Bush, but he's not running again. It would be ever so much better to get one or more videos of Repub Congressional incumbents doing the same thing. Or any of the potential Repub '08 candidates (altho I'd rather focus on '06).

I'd bet real money they exist. I suspect LOTS of Repubs in border states have tried to reach out to their Hispanic consituents and probably sung the National Anthem in Spanish at some political rally or maybe a school.

C'mon, all you DUers who live in TX, FL, NM, AZ, CA... Or those of you who live in states with some other large minority for which English is largely a second language. Contact your state and local Dem party offices, or post on their websites. Call your local TV stations. Call the schools where you've heard that some Repub appeared. These have GOT to be out there somewhere.

I wonder if Jon Stewart or Stephen Colbert could dig some up....

With all the hubbub regarding the National Anthem in Spanish, with Bush coming out against it, with Senator Lamar Alexander (R-TN) proposing a LAW to prohibit it, I found it interesting, downright funny actually, that the US govt actually commissioned a Spanish language version of what would become the anthem back in 1919.

Also, there are currently four different Spanish versions of the National Anthem at the US State Department website.

It would be so cool, and helpful to "political discourse" I think, if your staff could come up with a video of Bush singing the national anthem in Spanish.

And why stop there? I can't believe there are not Republican Congressional incumbents who have sung the National Anthem in Spanish at rallies, in schoolhouses, or whereever they have tried to raise votes from the Hispanic American community.

You could make a running gag out this, if you could just find those videos that MUST exist somewhere.
