Why has Mission Accomplished become Mission Impossible?

1. We didn't call a time-out from the war

and spent our time rebuilding North Africa before moving on to the invasion of Western Europe. If we fought WWII the way we are fighting this war, it would have gone like:

1942 - invasion North Africa
1943 - 1947 rebuild North Africa
1948 - Invasion of Italy
1949 - 1953 rebuilding of Italy
1954 - D-Day, liberation of France
1954 - 1959 rebuilding of France
1960 - invasion of Germany

The next invasion should happen right now and forget repairs?? We are not at war, and for you and the MSM to keep up the facade is becoming embarrassing for the country...

I'm looking at this from the vantage point of the Pentagon, ÿour "war President", PNAC etc. etc. that this is a war. And as such, it should be fought like one. If you assume the viewpoint the Middle East is full of hostile regimes that have to go, then it was incompetent to stop at the half-way point. Why are we discussing bombing Iran today? Because they failed to invade Iran after removing Saddam from power.

But now, the US is stuck in the sands of Mesopotamia undertaking an occupation it shouldn't have started, after a war it shouldn't have fought.

Not comparable with Iraq, where we merely did this:
Falluja

4. And spent nearly a decade bogged down in Vietnam...

from the beginning of major combat operations in 1965 to the Saigon bugout in '74...longer, if you go back to Eisenhower sending the first US advisors in the 1950's.

Much more comparable to the situation in Iraq than WWII.

7. It's probably more accurate to say the Russians won WWII

since they were engaging 80% of the German troops in those four years, but...this is what happens when you launch illegal wars and you have no friends.
