Why should we bother anymore?
So much to do...so little time. So much time snarking...so much time fighting...so much time vanity...so much time grouping...so much time hoping...so much time feeling defeated, so much time waiting for the ONE BIG ONE,that will take them down...so much time e-mailing media, signing petitions that seem to go nowhere, so much time protesting, marching...so much time waiting, so much time thinking, giving up dreams little by little, so much time coping...so much time....so little time. So much time that's gone by...where did it it all go...what is there to show for it...do we know?

10. Hey! OldLeftieLawyer! There you are!
Thanks. I'm a Mary Renault fan from several lifetimes ago.

I like your signature line too -- a proper tribute to a great soul. Would that there were more lof his accomplishment and range in a certain current administration I was thinking of...

12. Hi, baby .........
Actually, it was the Dan Berrigan quote I was looking at. What a gorgeous man he is. I've loved him for so many years. I'll be speaking to him tomorrow - yeah, we're still working on a case together - and I'll be sure to tell him that you've further immortalized him here on DU.

Isn't it awful that JKG's death didn't get the whole panoply that it should have? I guess Fuckface and an impersonator were far more newsworthy.

Old friend, I fear we are doomed..........

13. The Rev. Berrigan is in extremely capable hands is my guess.
Lucky soul.

I love it that you are engaged as you are, and have been, and that you are helping this man out. I'll just repeat it: He's a lucky soul.

Tonight I feel we aren't doomed. Tonight I feel that Bush will be out of there lickety-split and the House flips blue in November. I have no evidence at hand for these contentions, but that's what the elves are telling me this evening.

Always a pleasure, OldLeftieLawyer.

15. Then,
on this gloriously cool, sundrenched morning, when everything good seems not only possible, but mandatory, I'll take your pure white optimisim and hold it to me as I move through my day, and that, my friend, will, I hope, hold the demons of doom at bay.

Have a splendid Tuesday.

16. We never thought it would happen in our backyard
and now we will fight to get our backyard back. No defeatist attitude is needed, as a generation we never had to struggle, now it is our turn, to get our country back from an enemy within our own country.

3. Because just think how much worse it would be if we didn't
Bush has 30% approval ratings today because we kept up the pressure.

5. Take a vaca. Then come back.

Sometimes you just have to stop and appreciate the world, and let it remind you why it's worth fighting for.

6. Get out some Molly Ivins, one of the books with the goodbye column
for Barbara Jordan, then read it.

Cry, throw up and then laugh because as she said "it is one of the three and the other two hurt you."

8. Funny you should mention the "one big one"
With the bash Olberman threads today I started to realize that this is half of our problem. We keep waiting for the one big one. It seems like one is all it takes. Lou Dobbs takes a liberal point of view one time and he's held up as a hero. Olberman takes an opposing opinion once and he's a "coward". It happens here all the time, someone has a different opinion once and it's break out the napalm, or in some cases the champaign. We need to get a grip.

9. Gotta hang in there. It wasn't easy for Nelson Mandela either to be in
prison for almost 30 years, then come out and pick up where he left off. Gandhi had it rough too. Afican Americans have a tough road and have been fighting for justice for centuries. The truth must continue to march on forward and will prevail in the end. This is the way of nature.

14. "illegitimati non carburundum" (VERY dubious latin for "don't let the
bastards grind you down"

I REFUSE to let the bastards think they have won. this is OUR country, and they do NOT get to have it.
