My email to local media regarding Stephen Colbert
Time Has Come Today!

I have sent emails to all local media stating the following:

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen:

Please know that I have now seen true journalism and you, sadly, are not it.

I have seen a man, just a guy, stand up and, with grace and courage, speak truth to you; speak truth to power.

And I see your shame. I saw a great American force a shadow over your perceived influence and power. I saw a guy, a guy who could be my neighbor, rub your nose in your cowardice, your weakness. Your compliance with tyranny. Your guilt.

Be more like Mr. Stephen Colbert, a great American who fearlessly fights for my child's future. That, to my understanding, is your sacred duty. Do it or go away.

This reign will end and we will remember where you stood.

Count on it.

6. My LTTE to the NYT
Send out your LTTEs everybody. We're the media on this one!

Re: A New Set of Bush Twins Appear at Annual Correspondents' Dinner, Elizabeth Bumiller, NYT, May 1, 2006

Elizabeth Bumiller obviously got the RNC memo to ignore the astonishing and richly deserved posterior-kicking that George Bush and his complicit media scribes received at the hands of Stephen Colbert, the evening's headline speaker. In a new reporting low, the name "Stephen Colbert" is not even uttered in the article. Ironies abound, since the New York Times has, once again, proved up Mr. Colbert's very point-- that the main stream media has let this president literally get away with murder.

8. Nice. Thanks.
Colbert's address may not appear, in the future, in the big history books, but it will be remembered and cited in volumes of the social and artistic history of our troubled time.

A blast from the past: a background singer from a group in the early 70s, when given the opportunity to perform in front of Richard Nixon, ripped open her shirt to reveal a tshirt that said "STOP THE WAR!" William Manchester, the famous writer who produced important books on the Kennedy administration and assassination, immortalized this moment in his social history of America.

We'll always remember Colbert's courageous stance.... It's been a breath of oxygen in an increasingly asphyxic America.
