Susan Malveaux: "Prez never actually said 'Mission Accomplished'...
No, but he stood on a carrier, in front of a sign that said "Mission Accomplished" and declared that "Major Combat Operations in Iraq are OVER".
C'Mon Susan! I thought that you have some integrity!

Anothercase of the MSM insulting our intellegence.

4. But...but...it was the CARRIER'S "mission" that was "accomplished"...
(they were just returning from a tour)

The "Mission Accomplished" sign just happened to be behind Bush when he made his speech.

(that was another neocon explanation that was making the rounds)

23. Yep. The plastic turkey squad did it.

The BushCo cheerleaders put that banner up and surely Shit-for-Brains must have had prior knowledge. They would not do something so bold without running it by their boss first.

13. yes, it was the sailors' fault! They whipped up that banner ...
Edited on Mon May-01-06 03:16 PM by Lisa
.... just to make the Beloved Leader look bad!

And then they kept following him around to different venues, making similar graphics, so people would think that Bush's own staff were preparing them ... how fiendish!

US President George W. Bush announces the end to major combat in Iraq whilst aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln in May 2003. 18. He also never explicitly said that Iraq was responsible for 9/11
he just implied it, had flunkies imply it, had the media imply it and put out polls asking us if we thought that Iraq was responsible. So I guess it's our fault.

30. Correct. Those sailors who put up the banner were hired on Clinton's
watch. Therefore it is the Big Dawg's fault. Of course it was Clinton's military that deposed Saddam also and you won't hear the Bushbots talking about THAT.

Although the WH first said that the sign was done by the Navy, a quick denial by the Navy forced the truth out -- it was a WH operation. 'Nuff said.

28. If I remember correctly there was a bit of a flap over the press release..
The original release at the White House website included a statement indicating essentially "mission accomplished" but then was changed to a more weasly phrase a short while later.

Sorry Ms. Malveaux but not actually saying it in so many words doesn't mitigate standing in front of a banner proclaiming it in writing to the world.

40. Heard her say that on Leslie's show during the 4 pm hour.
It was quickly followed up with a "discussion" with Leslie, Torie Clarke and Donna Brazil. In their little talk-around Clark "took" responsibility for the sign (as she was the Pentagon Air Head, I mean media person at the time) even though "she still needs to do some more investigating" about how that sign ended up hanging on that carrier. You have had three years Torie, what else is there to discover except that the White House has already taken responsibility for the damn banner? Don't these people talk to each other? She is still pretending it is a deep, dark mystery how that 10 ft by 50 ft sign ended up just behind Chucklenuts. Puhleeze.

Leslie was humping for Chimpy the entire hour, thought the Bush twins was "absolutely hysterical."
