4. UPJr said this about the demonstrations also, need to be in school
boycott work, boycott economically, but the kids need to be in school since that is making THEM better, besides, AP exams are in 2 days. BTW, UPJr is a very liberal, socially/politically aware person so it was an interesting take on it.

7. Legal or illegal?
Many people make the distinction.

9. Not really.
Since the same people upset about the protests automatically assume that they're all illegal.

14. Yes, really.
I know people who used to make the distinction, but have gotten tired of the racial politics involved, and of legal immigrants acting in such close solidarity that legal immigrants seem to be protesting vehemently for the right to be here legally. That's a silly interpretation, of course, but it's what too many have been recorded saying. Therefore, since the naive reading is nonsense, I'm left to inference.

My inference is that the legal and illegal immigrants all want to be given the same rights. I used to make the distinction between the two, and looked upon illegal immigrants with sympathy; attempts at race-based and linguistic manipulation alienate me, deceit, dishonesty and lies (or stupidity) have that effect on me. I'm willing to support that they all be accorded the exact same rights, but it wouldn't be merging the two groups in ways that they'd find acceptable.

8. What a great civics lesson
You can't learn this stuff in a book. But of course, the M$M doesn't want these kids to learn about peaceful means of protesting.

10. Yup great civic lesson
Just come over to the US illegally, take advantage of free emergency medical care and schooling then protest about not being made a citizen. All you have to is be willing to accept slave wages, unsafe working conditions and keep your mouth shut about it. Then your corporate employer will give you a day off so you can ensure an endless supply of cheap labor. Where else but in the US can you protest for amnesty after breaking the law?
