They can't take my bumper or my chest away!!
Edited on Mon May-01-06 11:00 AM by proud2Blib
They are trying to take away my free speech, they control the media and they are trying to fuck with the internet.

But they can't take the bumper off of my car or my chest off of my body.

The supposed media blew it big time on the coverage of the march in New York. I just got home but it looks like they are spending more time on rush's arrest. I also notice a lot about Colbert at the WH the other night, but that is okay. And the MSM seems to be publishing more anti Neil Young columns than pro.

But they can't take my bumper or my chest.

I stocked up on t-shirts and bumper stickers in Crawford and NY. My summer wardrobe is set. I will wear an in your face t-shirt every fucking day. And my brand new car has become my personal billboard. That is a risk here in red state hell but I am taking it all the way here. I have already been keyed and I get honked at a lot. It feels so good to know I am getting their attention. It is just a car. My country is worth a few scratch marks on my car. (Besides I have a warranty that will fix those scratches)

ONE lady in NY saw my IMPEACH BUSH t-shirt, shook her head and said "Be sure to check out that hole in the sky while you are in town" I said "glad you noticed my shirt". Everyone else in NY who saw my shirt and commented said something supportive.

In the Tampa airport yesterday morning, I was wearing a t-shirt I bought in NY that says
THE WORLD CAN'T WAIT
DRIVE OUT THE BUSH REGIME

I wish I was brave enough to take pictures of the looks I got!! People are pissed! Some looked shocked, others just shook their heads. And I was thrilled to get their attention.

I went to our local protest in KC on my way home from the airport. We have so much support but the few war mongers are getting angrier and angier. GOOD!! Sooner or later, most will be pissed at el pretzeldente. I didn't hold a sign yesterday. I just wore a t-shirt.

They can't take away my bumper or my t-shirts. Cindy Sheehan got arrested for her t-shirt. The least I can do is wear one EVERY FUCKING DAY!!

These are the bumper stickers on my car:

DEMOCRATICUNDERGROUND.COM :)

DEMOCRACY FOR AMERICA

SUPPORT OUR SOLDIERS
BRING THEM HOME ALIVE
END THE WAR NOW

EMBARRASSED?
VOTE FOR A CHANGE

PEACE IS THE ONLY SERENITY
CRAWFORD PEACE HOUSE

PEACE (in 4 languages)

WAR IS NOT THE ANSWER

And I have 3 of those ribbons:

SUPPORT OUR OOPS IN IRAQ

PRAY FOR PEACE

JUST PRETEND IT'S ALL OKAY

My t-shirts:

IMPEACH BUSH

THE WORLD CAN'T WAIT
DRIVE OUT
THE BUSH REGIME

CRAWFORD PEACE HOUSE
on the back:
WALK THE WALK AND
TALK THE TALK

(I have three t-shirts from the Peace House)

CAMP CASEY EASTER WITH CINDY 2006

ANOTHER PACIFIST UNDER SURVEILLANCE

FREEDOM OF SPEECH NEEDS NO PERMIT

IGNORANCE IS BUSH

LET'S GO GHANDI

STOP WARS (the Star Wars logo)

MARCH FOR PEACE NEW YORK 4/29/06

CODE PINK
WOMEN AGAINST WAR

CODE PINK
WOMEN FOR PEACE

JUST PRETEND IT'S ALL OKAY

END THE WAR IN IRAQ

PEACE
SALAAM
SHALOM

I also have a ton of buttons, but that is a whole nuther thread. My favorite that I wear every day says
A WAR ECONOMY LEAVES ALL CHILDREN BEHIND

I also wear a pin with numbers that I can change showing the number of dead US soldiers in el pretzeldente's war(s).

So who will join me? They were selling t-shirts 2 for $5 in NY. The most I ever spent on one is $15.

1. They are working on taking our bumpers away
As they keep increasing gas prices, fewer people can afford to drive. So in essence they are taking your bumper away.

Otherwise you are right on.

Wish you guys could have gone to NY with us. It was awesome!!

There will be a contingent from KC going to Crawford in August. Think about coming. You guys will love it. We are taking tents and camping but we will also get a hotel room so we can go relax in air conditioning and swim in a pool once in awhile.

8. I also live in KC
and I also wear an anti-Bush type shirt every day, unless I have to dress up. I have rarely had anyone say anything bad, I get a lot of people asking where I got them. A lot of mine are humorous, also, such as one which has the 3 monkeys covering each other's ears & eyes captioned "Bush Voters". Maybe that's why I don't get hassled.

I have one with the Bush Bastard giving a thumbs up and smiling that's captioned "100,000 people dead in Iraq". I wore that one on a trip that changed planes in Dallas. I expected someone to say something there, but no one did except to ask where I got it.

I only have 2 bumper stickers, one says "Bush Lied and You KNOW It!" The other says "You voted for BUSH?? How embarrassing!!"

I have a great time when I have to travel in rural parts of Kansas, I've been really surprised at the positive reaction I get from the shirts.

Everyone should wear them, get the bumper stickers and make up your own stickers. We get little visibility in the media; it's way past time to start getting the message out in every other way possible.

close to Riverside. My office is in Prairie Village. I've really been surprised by the number of old people there who like my shirts.

I moved here from Wichita & one of the things I was looking forward to was meeting some liberals, and getting involved in some things as time allows. They're not too visible in Wichita yet. I'll have make a sign & head down to the fountain Sunday.

This is what they fail to understand. Squelching free speech does not wipe out thought. The mistake made by dictators throughout history.

Maybe you could get hold of a digicam so we can see this before the stickers begin to wrap around the fenders and progress toward the doors.
Imagine the space you'd have if you could afford to gas up a '76 Lincoln.
Do you ever notice drivers racing to keep up between traffic lights because they weren't done reading?

Kidding aside...very well done, thanx for posting.
Good for you, keep up the fight.

15. Proud2Blib, you rock!
"My country is worth a few scratch marks on my car." :yourock:

I love wearing my anti-boosh tee's in public & watching people's reactions. ;) I wear them everywhere -- except work, of course. But anytime I have errands to run, I'm wearing an anti-BFEE message.

My favorite tee has an image of Uncle Sam pointing straight ahead & the text reads, "The Patriot Act is Unpatriotic". I get more positive comments on that shirt than any other. People will be passing me in an isle & say, "Isn't that the truth" or "I completely agree with your shirt!" & things like that.

Other fave tees:

front: You've got oil, I've got troops! (with pic of boosh)
back: Grim Reaper (with boosh's pic behind the words)

front: If you're not pissed about Bush, you're not paying attention.
back: Pic of boosh with text: Impeach, It's Time

front: Pic of boosh next to a mushroom cloud & the text: Bush + 4 = (mushroom cloud)

front: Pic of boosh with text: The Chickenhawk Awards is looking for nominees in the following category: Al Qaeda's Top Recruiter
back: Pic of dead-eye with text: The Chickenhawk Awards is looking for nominees in the following category: Warmonger with Most Deferments

front: Pic of boosh & dead-eye as Gilligan & the Skipper. Text: Dubya's Island: Tax cuts for the Howell's; no reproductive rights for Ginger & MaryAnne; funding cuts for the Professor.

front: Hussein is not bin Laden (pic of twin towers with plane crashing into them)
back: WHERE GEORGE? (Huge pic of bin Laden) *

* This one really gets people's attention & boosh supporters just look away cuz, hey, what the heck can they say?

As for bumper stickers, that's a whole other thread! I drive a Toyota truck & tape stickers in my back window. I have a revolving litany of anti-boosh sentiment & swap them out about once a week. This from a woman who would never, never put a bumper sticker on her car in the past. Here is my current one:

37. I'm in Michigan, but right on the county lines of
blue Washtenaw and very red Livingston. I don't give two hoots what people say.
I get some good-natured ribbing, but my kids have come home from school and said a some of their teachers have said "hey, I saw your Mom's yard sign--that's cool!" It's a small town too, but I'm not that well known. It helps working in liberal Ann Arbor. I'm a little braver because we have demonstrations going on all the time here.

21. I do this as much as I can!
Believe it or not, crispini and I have a friend who actually DID have her bumper stolen during the primaries 2 years ago for her Kerry stickers!

Some of my favorites in my wardrobe include:

Damn Liberal
Texas Freedom Network (fighting the Religious Right since 1995)
"I'm not ashamed to be pro-choice; as a Texan, I am ashamed of Karen Hughes"
"I Do not believe in your war, President Bush"

The last one I wore to a Mexican joint in Plano when a couple of us DUers met 2 Fridays ago. It started a dialog, when a recently returned soldier wanted to engage reprehensor and I on our opinions. It was very civilized, and he really did want to know how we felt compared to how he felt, and he was open to learning more about what's going on. Very cool.

The others I just wear to the grocery store in our very red suburb. Pissing off fundies makes me all warm and fuzzy inside.

I also keep two buttons on my purse at (almost) all times (except when flying):
A picture of George merged with Alfred E. Neumann that says "Our Worst Nightmare"
"Don't use religion as an excuse for your hatred"

I have a backpack purse that I keep slung over one shoulder, so the buttons are always at eye level for whoever is behind me. Then, I take it out and set it on the counter whenever I pay. The buttons start ALL KINDS of interesting conversations.

fsc :hi:

32. I wish I could...
:-(

I got diagnosed with MS last summer. Anything that suggests 100 degree temperatures, lots of walking, and lots of exertion is completely debilitating for me. Especially August in Texas!

Figures...just as I finally became part of the political process, canvassing twice for Howard in Iowa, marching for choice in Washington and rallying in Dallas, I get nailed like this. I will be with everyone in spirit though, just like I was last year at this time.

22. thank you for your story. i want more stories. here is my story
Our town is against hate

No one is free, when others are oppressed

In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act. george orwell

If you think education is expensive, try ignorance

If you're NOT outraged, you're NOT paying attention

Silence is the voice of complicity

Diversity is our strength

Dissent in wartime can be the highest form of patriotism. Geoffrey R Stone

When the power of love overcomes the love of power the world will know peace. Jimi Hendrex

and a peace sign

and a silver necklace peace sign hanging from my rearview mirror.

i have not had a single negative confrontation. i have had some say yea to my stickers. the older educated well dressed male is the one that tends to give me a thumbs up. i am living in the very red panhandle of texas. i have been surprised at the lack of hostility. i watch the people in my rearview mirror read the stickers. i know there are many that are disgruntled by what they read. then i watch them chat. i especially like watching in the morning and afternoon in picking up kids, the cars behind me with parent and children. i love seeing the kids strain their necks to read my stickers and then to watch the parent and child talk about the stickers, whether they agree or not

most of my stickers all on both sides would agree. they are NOT combative for the most part. not many could argue with to many of my stickers

i have room for about 5 more stickers, i pplan to put on sometime in the future. i am saving a spot for my kerry sticker in 2008

i think it is all grand. my children wnat me to start putting them on the front and side too. so more people can see and read

and i too have a brand new, white car. all these stickers look awfully pretty on it. and it makes it easy for me to find my car in the parking lots.

33. Yeah, unfortunately,
I take my buttons off my purse when I travel.

Either they'll zing me for the pins (sharp things! Horrors!) or they'll zing me for the anti-conservative bias and forbid me from flying. Either is unacceptable to me, so I take em off, then put em back on when I get where I'm going.
