Just going from experience here, but the evidence is pretty overwhelming.

There's a disproportionate number of Freepers using AOL for some reason...

69. AOL is tailor made for people who don't bother to figure things out
for themselves. So I'm not really surprised that there's disproportionate amount of freepers there.

94. Of course AOL is full of freepers
I mean, over the years I've been called "gay" in the political chats over there, because I have said some anti-Bush adminstration stuff, plus it only a couple of weeks there was some poll on Scalia, and like 55% said that they agreed with his decisions....in other words those people are nothing more than a bunch of freeptards. Thank god I will be getting rid it soon as my internet provider.

I think that most of the people who are voting didn't see any of the performances and are only going from the article itself, which didn't even come close to doing Colbert justice, in my opinion.

two of his quotes, not the strongest in my book, and only audio for one. How can they possibly expect Colbert to be rated the highest? How many people actually saw the entirety of C-Span's coverage of Colbert? This is BS!!!!

Colbert WASN'T funny! Colbert wasn't SERIOUS! Colbert brings us a new kind of performance art. Now, how about a poll that asks "What speaker confused you the most?". Colbert would win hands down!

49. LOL I'm with you there
I am actually in the minority who wasn't all that impressed with Stephen's performance. It was good in spots and weak in others. But he didn't seem to be Stephen Colbert the man OR Stephen Colbert the character last night. He was either a blend of the two, or a third option, and a stupider one at that. So yeah, I was confused. Mildly amused, but not splitting a gut laughing.

But this brought up true laughter. The press got it as well as the politicans but IMHO most of Americans could have cared less about the content of the speech. I'll be watching the MSM for their reactions, in writing or by actions, and see if Steven Colbert gets press reaction, good or bad. I'm saving my download to cheer me up on days that the Republicans get me down.

31. Well, the truth is, Bridges WAS very funny ... and he got some good
zingers in there too. A few times I was rolling on the floor, but the audience sounded uncomfortable.

Bush is never funny.

Colbert was good. Very, very good. But satire is not always funny. He had some funny stuff, but most of it was about very serious stuff. He delivered in a way that got his message across without vitriol, but it wasn't what I call funny.

It was better than that. It was thought provoking.

41. I think you've nailed it. Especially about Bush never being funny.
His crimes against humanity aside, his timing is too clumsy to be comedically effective.

I think Colbert needs to have Bridges on his show. You know, for that Tuesday (or was it Thursday?) interview.

38. Colbert's act was not funny. There was more of Zola in it than
the usual Bob Hope insider jokes.

His act was an ever-so-thinly veiled "J'accuse!"

God bless him. God damn the sell-outs in the audience who have betrayed the Republic and reduced us to our present low state.

67. Voted For Colbert, But I'm Not Sure He Was Trying To Be Funny
completely.

I laughed at his performance, but in a gotcha you mutherfucker kind of way!

He was funny, satirical, sarcastic, and his humor bit HARD!

So, I don't know if he was funnier than the others (I only caught the last bit of the two prez thing)

I liked Bridges when I saw him making fun of Bush on a video that someone posted here recently from wimp.com.

Colbert in general waxes and wanes in his level of comedy (IMO) at the dinner he was unmasked and going for the throat.

Took some balls I'd say.

Doubt he gets invited back, although I don't know if anyone does.

77. The point you miss is Colbert's act wasn't meant to be funny...
It was meant to say, Fuck you.

To the President and to the "real" press.

No wonder he didnt get huge laughs, he told them all to fuck off. In perhaps the greatest 15 minute political satire in the history of the United States. Did I add he was standing 10 feet from an obviously uncomfortable President as he did it?

81. Colbert wasn't "funny." I don't think he meant to be funny.
What he said was poignant--and what most demonstrated the intelligence in his speech was his ability to lure the president into playing along.

His was the best performance of the night, but not because it was funny.

84. truth is most people did NOT see the dinner or Colbert.
But the TV news had to show clips of the oh so clever impersonator, so that's all they have to go on.

87. Done. But with 105,000 (!) votes a 1% change means over 1000 unanswered
votes for Colbert.

A bit daunting.

How much do you think Steve Bridges looks like President Bush?
A lot 57%
Somewhat 33%
A little 8%
Not at all 2%
Whose jokes do you think were the funniest?
Bridges 45%
Bush 33%
Colbert 23%
Total Votes: 105,158
Note on Poll Results

95. Done. K&R. But I agree that most people didn't see Colbert's performance
And were just voting by the seat of their pants. But they may have seen Bush* and Bridges on the news, since that part of the story took off this weekend. And I agree that Bridges looks just like Bush*! Totally creeped me out...:scared:
