Mind set of a right winger "friends"
I forwarded the article

http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/opinion/oped/bal-op.radical23apr23,0,7907127.story?coll=bal-oped-headlines

"Is U.S. being transformed into a radical republic?" by Lawrence Wilkerson published on April 23, 2006 as an op-ed piece in the Baltimore Sun to a few of my childhood friends who live in America, and for reasons I am unable to fathom, still support the Bush cabal.

One of them had the courage to reply me with this one-liner:

"Full of sound and fury signifying nothing."

I was moved enough to send him this reply:

"Dear XXXX,

Remember,

I am not an American,
I am not a Republican or Democrat, and
I do not care a damn what happens to Americans in America per se!

I just happen to be a "Liberal" political analyst. What I see about the situation in the US is not very good. I see fascism creeping up in your country, step by step. Remember these words:

'First they came for the Communists, but I was not a Communist, so I said nothing. Then they came for the Social Democrats, but I was not a Social Democrat, so I did nothing. Then came the trade unionists, but I was not a trade unionist. And then they came for the Jews, but I was not a Jew, so I did little. Then when they came for me, there was no one left to stand up for me.' Pastor Martin Niemöller

Please convince me that all is honky dory in the US and in Iraq.

As I listen to radio just now (Bernie Ward from KGO, San Francisco), Bush's approval rating is down to 32%!

Sorry, I do not watch FOX News, or listen to Rush Limbaugh, Bill O'Riley or Chris Mathews, as the views expressed on their programmes do not in any way reflect the news we get in Europe from BBC, Finnish Radio and Television, German Television, etc! But, maybe all of them are wrong and only Fox News is right?

(By the way I do listen to some US Liberal Voices - Mike Malloy (Atlanta), Peter Werbe (Michigan), Randi Rhodes (New York), Thom Hartmann (Portland, Oregon), Guy James (Florida), Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Mike Papantonio, John Rothman, Bernie Ward and Ray Talifero (San Francisco), Laura Flanders, Stephanie Miller, Mark Riley and Rachel Maddow, The Young Turks (Cenk Uygur, Ben Mankiewicz and Jill Pike), Janeane Garofalo and Sam Seder - and more.

Remember who Lawrence Wilkerson was? Was it all "sound and fury" when he was working WITH this Administration?

What will it take to convince you that America is a has been (it got aid from 3rd world countries during Katrina!), the most hated nation around the world (Bush can go nowhere without a wall of security from, not admiring crowds but hostile ones), that it has lost the war in Iraq, and is going to gets its bottom burned to a cinder if, as suggested by the Hoover Institute think tank, it attacks Iran?

50000 Americans dead, as in Vietnam?
The American Ambassador being air-lifted out of Baghdad?

Or, will there a be a neocon rationalisation even then?

Imagine, Free Speech Zones in the US!

What happened to the country which valued Free Speech and blasted the air waves from Radio Free Europe?

Just asking? :-)

Best regards

Jacob"

2. Yes...
"Dear Jacob,

Thank you for your reply.

I beg to disassociate myself from politics and sports if it concerns Bush or Schumacher.

The rest of the world has its views, which I respect, both in politics and sport. And I have mine...which I hope you will equally respect.

That's about it.

regards,

XXXX"
