From the files of "I've got mine, screw you!"
Comes this little gem written by an Opinion Journal reader in response to an editorial on the Maryland Wal-Mart health care bill:

"Get the Greedy Hand Out of My Pocket
William Davenport - Tampa, Fla.

As a shareholder in Wal-Mart it nauseates me that the government feels entitled to dip its hands into my and other's "deep pockets" to pay for something that is the responsibility of the individual. Of course this is just another step in the ultimate goal of the welfare state: the complete subjugation of self-determination and individual sovereignty. This is nothing new. Federal and state governments have used alleged smoking-related expenses borne by the public healthcare system as an excuse to interfere with freedom of choice for years. A rational person would proffer that the solution is not to restrict individual choice but rather to get the state out of the business of subsidizing a bad one. Apparently no politician has the courage to make that startlingly banal observation...."

2. Idiot! I just get this clear pic of this maroon picking his own lettuce!
he only reason his luttuce isn't $23.00 a pound is because migrant workers are paid pennies an hour to pick it for him...just like the underpaid employees of WalMart!!

I'm responsible for putting food on my table (which is why a head of lettuce is not $23 a pound)

4. WTF?
Okay, so let's get this straight, Wal-Mart, a company in which this gentleman who lives in Florida enjoys the profits from, doesn't pay it's workers enough to live on, therefore, an individual state such as Maryland must close the gap by providing taxpayer funded subsidies such as healthcare and food stamps, and it's them who has their hands in HIS pocket?

Nice try, asswipe.

:spank:

5. Well, one thing is true
Tobacco subsidies need to be ended. Corporate welfare to tobacco companies needs to be ended. If they want to make that poison and sell it to stupid teenagers and 20 somethings, let them do it on their own nickel. Same with peddling it to people overseas.

However, Walmart needs to know what the social contract is and why it should be upheld. There are only so many people you can keep stepping on over and over again before your business reputation suffers irreparably and people go back to K Mart and Target.

Hell, I have.
