Well the dough is rising
Today I invested in a baking book that had a very simple yeast recipe for bread. Realize I even considered the finding of a used bread machine until I saw how much space those things take. So today I got some flower and the yeast and the dough is rising.

If I managed to do a good job... it is easy... will know when it finally is done...

If this works I know I will be doing either two loaves, I cut the recipe in half. or biscuits, for sandwiches.

If this works, yes I can see the savings are possible here... make my own bread, while doing my work... sure writing takes a few hours, so doing this should be easy... and money saver.

2. THe same... what got my going I can do this was
the basic yeast bread... as old as... humanity itself.

I did it with white flower today... I suspect next batch will be whole wheat... I read you have to wait longer for the bread to rise. So mix in morning and wait for four hours before baking.

3. Hey, nadin, if you get the chance or inclination...
Come over to the Cooking & Baking group here at DU. There's a whole bunch of artisan bread bakers over there. They've shared lots of tips and pictures as they've baked.

I hope your bread came out great! I keep saying I'll try it but haven't yet. In fact, I finally have some recipes for foolproof pie dough that two generous DUers shared with me over in that group. And that's been keeping me busy lately.
:hi:

5. I have a "bread machine" - aka my two hands. They came free with the body.

8. My mom bought the kitchen aid oh twenty five years ago
since she baked, of course we would too. So the thing sat there for years not being used and gathering dust.

I actually like it. Makes this fairly easy.
