Sir Alex blasts Rio boo-boys
http://soccernet.espn.go.com/headlinenews?id=337327&cc=5901

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed his anger at supporters who have booed contract rebel Rio Ferdinand in the club's last two friendlies.

The England centre-back has infuriated supporters by stalling over the offer of a new deal reportedly worth £100,000 a week, a situation which Ferguson himself has expressed his displeasure about in the past.

Now though the Scot has called for unity and urged fans to stop their anti-Ferdinand campaign immediately after he was booed during the recent games against Clyde and Peterborough.

'I'm not entirely happy with the reaction of the fans,' the Scot said.

1. You can't blame them
We all have such a deep emotional attachment to our clubs; they cause us pain, frustration, elation, confusion (all in a single week sometimes): through it all, we know that they are OUR club and we love them dearly. We would all like players to love our club as much as the fans do. Very few players do. Players move on, the fans don't.

If Rio Ferdinand can't accept £100,000 a week to play for Manchester United, you can't blame the United fans for believing that his heart isn't with the club.

Fergie should take Chelsea's money.

But perhaps I'm just a silly sentimentalist.

2. I can't understand why anyone would want more than £100K a week
What could anyone possibly spend it all on? You could live comfortably on £50,000 a year even factoring in tax.

3. Malcolm Glaser has amassed that sort of wealth...
so it's not like he needs it either.
